We are looking for a dedicated Associate Scientist to support our early research pipeline. The position is within the Gut Biology department, which is part of Global Drug Development (GDD) and located in Måløv, North-west of Copenhagen.
About the department
The Gut Biology department is part of the Liver Disease Research area with primary focus on target identification, target validation and pre-clinical characterisation of new assets to become novel treatment options for patients with cardiometabolic diseases.
We are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterise and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates. For this purpose, we apply state-of-the-art equipment and collaborate closely with our colleagues across GDD.
In the department, we are four Scientists, five Technicians, and a student and the working atmosphere is characterised by an open, cheerful, and informal tone. With a multitude of different nationalities in the team, both working and social language is English.
The position
As an Associate Scientists, you will:
• Participate in the in vitro characterisation and development of new therapeutics for treatment of cardiometabolic diseases
• Design, troubleshoot, and carry out experiments based on knowledge from the literature as well as with support from our scientists, and deliver high quality data and results to our internal projects
• Handle primary cells and cell lines and be part of setting up advanced human cell-based functional assays including confocal live cell imaging to support phenotyping and validation of new drug candidates
• Maintain laboratory supplies and operations
• Keep accurate and detailed records of experimental work and data
• Work collaboratively with different stakeholders in a matrix organisation
Ultimately, your work will contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for millions of people with diabetes or other cardiometabolic diseases around the world.
Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree or similar education with a strong experimental background in cellular systems. You have expertise in cell biology and in methods like immunocytochemistry and advanced live cell imaging. Experience in establishing advanced in vitro models, such as co-culture systems, organoids or organ on a chip technology is considered an advantage. Skills in programs like Excel and Prism are important.
