2 Postdoc positions within Centre for Polariton-driven Light-Matter Interactions

POLIMA (at the University of Southern Denmark) seeks outstanding candidates to fill two Postdoc positions within the four main research areas of the Center for Polariton-driven Light-Matter Interactions {POLIMA): 2D polaritons as probes of solid-state matter (e.g. quantum plasmonics), polaritons for chiral or quantum light sources, nonlinear polaritonics, and polariton-based metasurfaces. The positions concern both theoretical and experimental activities and are available from 1 May 2023.

The successful candidates will be employed 1 May or as soon as possible, and they will conduct cutting-edge research on one or more of the above-mentioned topics, under the supervision of one of the center's key-investigators, Profs. N. Asger Mortensen, Sergey I. Bozhevolnyi, Joel D. Cox, Christian Wolff, Fei Ding, Shailesh Kumar, and Christos Tserkezis. The successful candidates will be further encouraged and assisted in applying for prestigious personal scholarships as appropriate in each case e.g. Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. We welcome particularly postdocs with an experience in cathodoluminescense spectroscopy to apply.

Applicants should have obtained a relevant PhD (or have scheduled the defence at the time of the application) and be able to demonstrate a good publication record and/or the potential to excel in a competitive research environment. The initial duration of the contract is two years, with extension possibilities decided according to the candidate's performance.

Professor N. Asger Mortensen is head of POLIMA, which currently consists of two Associate Professors, one Assistant Professor, two Postdoc's, three Ph. D students plus administrative staff to support the center. POLIMA is a Center of Excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation for the next 6 years. Furthermore, several POLIMA researchers have attracted prestigious personal grants e.g. VILLLUM INVESTIGATOR, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship and Sapere Aude.

POLIMA is located at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense - 1 hour 15 minutes by train from Copenhagen and Copenhagen Airport. Conditions of employment Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.

Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.
