The research group led by Dr Sofie Marie Koksbang at the Centre for Cosmology and Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy invites applications for two PhD positions. The positions are to contribute to the Villum Young Investigator project entitled ``Observational effects of big and small structures in the Universe'' and have a strong focus on numerical work.
We are looking for outstanding and highly motivated candidates with potential to excel in computational cosmology, and who are looking to join a dynamic, curiosity-driven research group. CP3-Origins offers a stimulating research environment with research topics ranging from cosmology to dark matter astro-particle physics, quantum gravity, black holes and quantum field theory.
The appointments will be for terms of three (or four) years and are expected to start in the autumn of 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter (starting date is flexible). Funding for travel to conferences, workshops and PhD schools is available. Regarding your upload for the application point "A research proposal/description of your approach to the above project (max one page excluding references)": This could e.g. contain a description of how you worked during you bachelor's project, master's project or other projects/tasks and what your experience from these have taught you about what your (current) preferred approach would be to a research project.
The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy is one of four departments at the Faculty of Science, SDU and is located in Odense. The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy is a department focused on basic research. We are happy to move beyond traditional disciplines and work to develop new technologies and sciences across physics, chemistry, pharmacy, mathematics, computer science and biology. The department’s research thus contributes to new knowledge and solutions with applications in the areas of climate, environment, energy and health.
These PhD positions are placed in the Section for Physics. The physics section is focused on basic research within the areas of fundamental physics, biophysics, and computational physics.

Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three (students who have completed their MSc) or four years (students who have not yet completed their
MSc). Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement on salaried PhD scholars between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Please check links for more information on salary and taxation.
The successful candidate will be enrolled at this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
