The position This position will provide you with a great opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing across the organization, in close collaboration with similar teams in research and manufacturing in Novo Nordisk. Some of your daily tasks:
  • Interject new concepts for systems modelling and analysis of temporary systems
  • Quantify and map the temporal space under uncertainty
  • Recommend operating windows and systems control design
    • Since the nature of the job is student-based, we try and ensure that you also can network within the company and develop and learn how to apply R&D concepts to real-world, industrial problems. Additionally, you will gain experience in working within a development and manufacturing environment, and experience how data can be utilized with the current trend of industry 4.0. Qualifications We are looking for a student who is motivated by and enjoys analysing data, problem conceptualization, developing models and solving these models for systems understanding. You are currently enrolled in an MSc Degree within a Danish University with the following developing qualifications:
  • Studying within the fields of Chemical Engineering with continued interest in modelling and simulation, applied mathematics with a focus on dynamic modelling (and/or optimization), electrical engineering with a focus on automation and control
  • Experience with equation/object-oriented programming
  • Curious and an appetite for solving complex problems by applying a systems approach
  • An asset but not a requirement would be familiarization with one or more of the following tools: Matlab, Scilab, etc.

About the department As part of Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply organization, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients is responsible for manufacturing all API for Novo Nordisk’s products. You will be assigned to Manufacturing Development (MDev), a cross-functional area that works at the interface between R&D and full-scale manufacturing with a strategic focus on technology transfer, scale-up and process improvement-optimization. You will join MDev Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (MDev BIO), a recently established and growing group of 7 highly skilled colleagues plus 7 MSc students, working with advanced model-based approaches for designing and understanding Bioprocesses of the Future. In MDev BIO we have a problem-solving mindset where we work in a dynamic environment to convert engineering challenges into opportunities. We tackle these challenges through Multiscale Modelling where we have activities in Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling.
