About the department

In Global Research Technologies we design, produce and formulate compounds for Novo Nordisk´s research pipeline. You have the unique opportunity to contribute with your experience and your knowledge to the success of these ambitious and ground-breaking endeavours.

The position

As a scientist in the department of Applied Automation, you will get to work on projects across the Novo Nordisk research value chain, developing devices and methods to reduce the timelines and increase the throughputs in the drug discovery processes. The position requires an individual who is highly innovative and self-motivating, to look outside existing processes to bring about change. Specifically, you will be developing robotics, and other devices, to generate new ways of working. There will be a strong focus on device and methods development and the work will be very hands on. Topics that the scientist may be asked to investigate include the application of machine vision to research, mobile robotics and there is a major interest in DOE/ Bayesian closed loop optimization of methods. You have a PhD within automation, chemical engineering, biochemistry or another relevant field, and sound experience of the application of laboratory automation in your given field. You have significant knowledge in scripting languages incl. C#, Python, Java object oriented programming, relational databases and preferentially you are a trained user of lab automation scheduling software.

You should also have a proven track record of programming and operating liquid handling platforms such as Tecan, Beckman, Agilent Bravo, Jena or Dynamic Devices. Other experience with robots/cobots such as Precise Automation, UR or similar is desired. Moreover, you have experience with integration of laboratory equipment, PLC, writing drivers and SILA would be useful. You cover all aspects of the experimental work from planning and design of experiments over practical execution of the experiments to documentation and presentation of the results to colleagues across the organization. Efficient communication, collaboration and knowledge sharing are some of your important qualities as well as being flexible and capable of adapting in an often changing research environment.

Solid English capabilities are required for writing documentation and for communication with colleagues in a multinational corporation.
