[xxxxx], one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Access Advisor to provide operational and technical assistance to country operations on access, negotiation and engagement approaches; develop and refine the global policies, tools and guidelines, implement a capacity exchange initiative and work throughout the organization to strengthen DRC’s ability to operate in complex environments. The role will require working closely with colleagues across departments to continue developing an integrated approach to humanitarian access and engagement.

About the job

The job is part of the Response Framework section, housed under the Emergency Response team but equally supporting the Solutions team. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the development, dissemination, training and application of country-oriented tools, policies, techniques and guidelines to gain and sustain humanitarian access in areas affected by displacement.
  • Coordinate closely with country programs, HQ hubs and HQ departments to provide technical support including developing access strategies and providing expert advice and guidance on access related topics such as humanitarian negotiation, civil-military coordination and engagement with armed groups etc.
  • Deliver and design capacity building packages and facilitate the global community of practice
  • Provide support to monitor access trends at a global and country level, including bureaucratic impediments and other access barriers, and offer mitigation or solutions based approaches to risks.
  • Engage with other teams and departments in order to ensure holistic and principled approach to humanitarian and solutions outcomes including Safety and Security, Standards and Operational Support (SOS), Sectors and Response Framework.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have extensive experience working in humanitarian contexts across multiple contexts and countries, working with colleagues from different backgrounds and different functions. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • 5-7 years working in humanitarian contexts, including multi-dimensional contexts where aid, politics and security intersect.
  • Direct experience working to address humanitarian access constraints including leading humanitarian access strategies.
  • Experience of capacity building of colleagues and peers in a multinational staff setting.
  • Experience negotiating humanitarian access or designing humanitarian negotiations and engagement
  • University degree in relevant discipline

Desirable

  • Experience working in or closely with humanitarian coordination structures.
  • Experience in external representation including in forums and coordination groups

We offer

Contract length: Permanent

Work location: Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø, just by Ryparken station

Start date: 22nd June

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC. The position is at “fuldmægtig” level. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
