In Project Controlling, our mission is simple: protect and grow project profitability. We act as finance business partners on BIG’s project teams—driving budgets, analyzing performance, influencing strategy, and ensuring high quality financial data that directly impacts revenue and EBIT.
As a Project Controller, you will own your own partner portfolio, collaborate closely with Partners and senior stakeholders, and play a central role in monthly closing and forecasting. You will provide data-driven insights, challenge assumptions, and help shape the commercial performance of some of the world’s most exciting architecture projects.

You will join the Project Controlling department. It currently consists of 4 people; a Project Controller, two part-time student assistants led by the Head of Project Controlling. With responsibility for our Copenhagen, Shanghai, Paris and Bhutan offices, the projects you will be supporting span from the Scandinavian countries, to Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
Primary areas of responsibility:- Manage end-to-end project setup: creation, budgets, timelines
- Continuously challenge project assumptions, cost and revenue drivers to ensure strong financial performance.
- Supporting Project Managers and Partners in project bookings, budgets, performance, forecasting and receivables, including follow-up on outstanding payments and ensuring timely cash collection
- Owning and driving monthly budget update meetings for your portfolio, ensuring clear financial direction, alignment with Partners and Project Managers, and follow-up on key commercial actions
- Driving the monthly closing process for your portfolio, ensuring accuracy, transparency and timely delivery
- Identifying risks and opportunities, including follow-up on additional scope and fees
- Handle invoicing of contract work and reimbursables, including client and subcontractor correspondence
- Responsible for Work-in-Progress (WIP), revenue, and profit‑contributing project reporting for your portfolio.
- Ensuring access for time registration on projects for employees
- Training new employees using our digital tools and general Project Controlling understanding
- Various ad hoc analytics and reporting
We are seeking a person who:- Hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Architecture or other relevant field of study
- Has a minimum of 2 years experience within Project, Finance or Business Controlling
- Fluent in spoken/written English
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially highly proficient in Excel
- Enjoys a busy and creative environment with many personalities
- Is comfortable with fast-paced decisions and rapidly changing environments
- A calm demeanor and an eye for details, even under pressure
- A proactive and organized mindset - both big-picture-savvy and detail-oriented
- Has a strong commercial mindset and is able to challenge stakeholders constructively and influence decisions
- Thrives in a structured environment with recurring deadlines, particularly within monthly financial processes
