DanChurchAid (DCA) is seeking an experienced, energetic, and solutions-oriented Global Roving Safety & Security Advisor to strengthen our global safety and security framework and duty of care, ensuring that risk management approaches enable safe and effective programme delivery across all contexts within DCA’s 18 country programmes, with a diverse portfolio including humanitarian action, development, resilience building, and humanitarian mine action.
With increasingly complex operational environments, DCA aims to further reinforce its duty of care and risk management systems. This role will provide specialised, coordinated, and hands-on safety and security support to country offices, ensuring safe programme delivery in high-risk and fragile contexts. The role acts as a trusted advisor to country and HQ leadership, supporting informed decision-making in complex and high-risk environments.
The position is based in Copenhagen (HQ) or in one of DCA’s countries in the Middle East, and involves approximately 70% international travel, including deployments at short notice and for extended periods (typically 3–4 weeks), depending on operational needs. Assignments may include rapid deployments during emerging crises, requiring adaptability and sound judgement under pressure.

The Global Roving Safety & Security Advisor plays a key role as a senior, field-facing advisor supporting country offices and advising leadership through analysis, field missions, mentoring, and crisis response. You will work closely with Country Directors, Security and Access Managers, and Security Focal Points to strengthen safety systems, improve operational access, and ensure alignment with DCA’s global safety framework . The role ensures that safety and security systems are practical, context-driven, and aligned with operational realities. This is not a purely compliance-driven role, but one focused on enabling safe, principled, and effective humanitarian action

  • Provide forward-looking threat assessments and technical advice to country teams
  • Support the development and implementation of country security plans, including risk assessments, SOPs, and contingency plans
  • Conduct safety reviews and compliance checks across country programmes
  • Ensure that risk management measures are proportionate and support, rather than constrain, programme delivery

    We are looking for a candidate with strong technical expertise and the ability to build trust and collaboration across diverse contexts.
    You bring:
  • At least 10 years of experience in safety and security management, including training and advisory roles
  • Substantial field experience in high-risk or conflict-affected environments, preferably with an INGOA relevant academic background (minimum Bachelor’s degree)
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, including conflict and risk analysis with the ability to translate complex risk environments into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Experience operating in complex, fluid, and politically sensitive environments
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making in complex operational environments in a credible and solution-oriented way
  • Experience delivering training to both national and international staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work constructively under pressure
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Fluency in English is required; French and/or Arabic are considered strong advantages
  • A high level of initiative and commitment to humanitarian principles
