We are looking for three highly skilled Laboratory Technicians (laboranter) or Biomedical Laboratory Scientists (bioanalytikere) to join the Single-Cell Omics Platform to start March 1, 2023, or after agreement.
Our research
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms that underlie metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010 and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices, and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www.maersktower.ku.dk. Our group and research
The positions available are in the Single-Cell Omics Platform, a service platform, which was established in 2018 to provide CBMR researchers access to the latest cutting-edge bulk and single-cell transcriptomics and epigenetics techniques. Currently, the Platform team consists of Laboratory Technicians, Bioinformaticians, and a Platform Manager. Job description
As Laboratory Technicians or Biomedical Laboratory Scientists in the Single-Cell Omics Platform, you will be working in close collaboration with your colleagues from the Platform in your effort to support researchers in the Center with transcriptomics and epigenetic techniques. The service throughput in the Platform is high, and routine tasks will be part of your daily work. However, you will also be involved in optimizing and developing new protocols and operating a liquid handling robot.

The place of employment is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
For profile 1 & 2: The employment as Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (Bioanalytiker) is a full-time permanent position. Expected starting date is March 1, 2023, or after agreement.
For profile 3: The employment as Laboratory Technician or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (Bioanalytiker) is a 2-year full-time position.
Employment as Laboratory Technician (laborant) will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and OAO/HK STAT. The position is placed in salary group 3 or 4 depending on qualifications.
Employment as Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (bioanalytiker) will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Society of Biomedical Laboratory Scientists (Danske Bioanalytikere). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated.

Job description

The service throughput in the Platform is high, and routine tasks will be part of your daily work. However, you will also be involved in optimizing and developing new protocols and operating a liquid handling robot.
Specific tasks:
Profile 1
- Method optimization and development
- Optimization of protocols on liquid handling robot, Sciclone IQ
- Preparations of bulk and single-cell libraries (DNA and RNA based)
- Sequencing using NovaSeq6000 (Illumina) and NextSeq500 (Illumina).
Profile 2
- FACS sorting of cell and nuclei using a SH800 (Sony)
- Preparations of single-cell libraries (DNA and RNA based)
- Sequencing using NovaSeq 6000 (Illumina) and NextSeq 500 (Illumina)
- Quality control of RNA and NGS libraries using a TapeStation instrument (Agilent)
- Method optimization and development.
Profile 3
- Preparations of bulk libraries (RNA and DNA based)
- Sequencing using NovaSeq 6000 (Illumina) and NextSeq 500 (Illumina)
- Quality control of RNA and NGS libraries using a TapeStation instrument (Agilent)
- Operation and maintenance of liquid handling robot, Sciclone IQ.
Additional tasks:
- Maintenance of Illumina sequencers
- Assist with general laboratory tasks
- Assist researchers with ad hoc tasks.
Profiles
For all three positions:
Education/skills:
- An education as Laboratory Technician (laborant) or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (bioanalytiker)
- Solid hands-on experience with laboratory work including molecular biology techniques
- Excellent skills in documentation of laboratory work
- Good written and oral communication skills in English
Personal qualifications:
- Positive, pro-active and open-minded
- Great collaborative skills and service minded
- Well organized and with an eye for details.
Specific skill set for profile 1 (permanent position):
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience with laboratory work
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in next generation sequencing techniques
- Have a flair for troubleshooting and optimizing protocols
- Hands-on experience with RNA/DNA bulk and single-cell library preparation, such as RRBS, single-cell RNASeq and multimodal techniques
- Experience with Illumina sequencers such as the NextSeq500 and NovaSeq6000
- Experience in working with liquid handling robots such as the Sciclone IQ
Specific skill set for profile 2 (permanent position):
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with laboratory work
- Hands-on experience with single-cell library preparation such as droplet microfluidics and SPLiT-seq.
- Experience with Illumina sequencers such as the NextSeq500, and NovaSeq6000
- Experience in isolation of nuclei from tissues
Specific skill set for profile 3 (2-year contract):
- A minimum of 2 years of experience with laboratory work
You may have:
- Experience with RNA/DNA library preparation
- Experience with Illumina sequencers such as the NovaSeq6000
- Experience in working with liquid handling robots
