This role is different. As New Product Planning Lead, your clinical and commercial understanding of cardiorenal and inflammatory diseases will directly drive the investment decisions that determine whether tomorrow's most innovative assets get developed and reach patients.This is a role built for exceptional thinkers from a range of backgrounds – PhD scientists ready to apply their depth to commercial strategy, strategy consultants who want to own outcomes rather than advise on them, or healthcare equity analysts who want to drive pipeline decisions from the inside.Your responsibilities will include:
Building business cases, risk-adjusted valuations, and indication sequencing models that feed directly into governance investment decisions across the cardiorenal and inflammatory portfolioDeveloping and validating Target Product Profiles through structured KOL interviews with leading cardiologists, nephrologists, endocrinologists, and specialist Multi-disciplinary team members – challenging commercial thresholds against real clinical practiceMapping patient flows, referral networks, care transitions, and novel biomarker adoption dynamics to identify commercial opportunities and portfolio gaps – including for asymptomatic and subpopulation-targeted strategiesEnsuring product strategies reflect the access realities of specialist and hospital settings – formulary dynamics, managed entry, pharmacist roles, and cardiovascular reimbursement pathwaysContributing to RWE strategy design and applying real-world data assets to sharpen forecasting and commercial planningSupporting Business Development assessments with commercial perspective on asset fit and value creation potentialYour new departmentIn Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas – acting as the connector between scientific innovation and commercial impact across the [xxxxx] portfolio.The Diabetes& Early Pipeline & External Innovation team works at the frontier of cardiometabolic medicine – across novel modalities, biologies, and value propositions – in disease areas where the metabolic, cardiorenal, and inflammatory science and the commercial landscape are both evolving at pace. We don't have all the answers – and we're looking for someone who finds that exciting rather than unsettling.Your skills & qualificationsWe’re looking for someone with genuine scientific or analytical depth applied to the commercial challenges of one of the most diverse and exciting portfolios in cardiometabolic medicine. You’re intellectually curious, thrive in ambiguity, and want your work to directly influence which medicines reach patients.You will bring:A Master’s or PhD in Economics or Business with strong natural science capabilities (Life Sciences PhD strongly preferred), or a Master’s/PhD in Medicine, Biology, or Pharmacy with strong commercial understanding, or an advanced degree with a healthcare equity analyst or investment banking background4–6 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in New Product Planning, global marketing, medical affairs, market access, or strategy consultingDisease area experience in Cardiovascular or Inflammatory disease areas, paired with strong financial modelling capability (discounted cash flows, scenario analysis, risk-adjusted valuations), built in pharma, consulting, or investment banking environmentsExperience in patient flow modelling, forecasting, and quantitative business case developmentFamiliarity with clinical realities in these patient populations, including cardiotoxicity and infection risk management, haemostasis in unstable cardiorenal patients, treatment intensification protocols, care transitions, or novel biomarker strategiesComfort operating at the interface of clinical science and commercial strategyAbility to influence without formal authority in a complex matrix organisationFluency in EnglishWorking at [xxxxx]For over 100 years, we've been dedicated to driving lasting change for long-term health.
