Product Owner (Manager Role) for global backup and recovery service

Do you have hands-on experience owning or managing backup and disaster recovery services in an enterprise environment, including RPO, RTO and retention requirements?

For one of our clients, a large Danish company within the Life science & Pharma industry, we are seeking an experienced Product Owner for backup and recovery with leadership experience. You will become part of a dynamic and challenging environment characterized by high ambitions and a corresponding level of complexity. You will take part in shape the future of enterprise backup technology and safeguard the data that enables life-changing treatments to reach millions of patients.

Backup, and recovery

As Product Owner, you’ll lead and own the product vision, roadmap and backlog for the organization’s backup technology. You’ll take an active leading role and you’ll combine deep technical expertise in backup and cloud technologies with strong stakeholder management to ensure our service meets business continuity, compliance and operational objectives while driving continuous improvement and value delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Maintaining the product vision, strategy and roadmap for the IT Backup Service, aligned with business continuity, security and compliance goals
Owning the product backlog by writing, prioritizing and refining user stories, acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements (RTO, RPO, retention, encryption, etc.)
Collaborating with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and continuous improvement
Defining and monitoring KPIs for the backup service to drive performance and reliability
Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal backup policies, including data residency, retention, encryption and audit capability
Managing incident response involvement for major backup/recovery incidents, leading post-incident reviews and implementing preventive measures
Communicating roadmap, status, risks and outcomes to senior management and stakeholders in clear, executive-level language.

Your skills & qualifications

We’re looking for a Product Owner who can bridge technical depth with strategic vision, stakeholder engagement and leadership of the area.

You’ll bring with you:

Expertise in people leadership
Strong technical background in backup and recovery technologies, with solid understanding of RPO/RTO, retention schemes, backup architecture, snapshots, replication and restore workflows
Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or Technical Lead for infrastructure or platform services in an enterprise environment
Demonstrated ability to translate technical detail into executive-level communication and vice versa, ensuring clarity across all organizational levels
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and build consensus across diverse teams
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal

Experience working within regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOX) in enterprise IT environments is a plus.
