With more than 20 years of experience and two biorefineries in Skaganeset (Sotra outside Bergen in Norway) and Hirtshals (Denmark), biomega® is positioned for growth over the coming years.
biomega® is enlarging their Engineering team. You will work in a matrix organization, reporting to CTO Andrew Dustan in Biomega Group (Bergen), and in collaboration with two senior engineers, one also based in Bergen and one in Stavanger (Norway). In addition, external consultants may be assigned to new projects.
biomega® wants to hire an engineer who can start as soon as possible. Your responsibility will be both co-ordinating with Operations in Denmark and service the factory in Skaganeset. In addition you will contribute to the engineering team at biomega® headquarter in Bergen. So, you must expect a fair amount of travel activities. Your base location can be close to Hirtshals or close to Bergen.
Your tasks
In general, you will participate from the planning to implementation of upgrades for the two current biorefineries at Biomega. In addition, you will be responsible for installation, commissioning, and hand-over of new systems.
In more detail, you will drive hands-on for:
- Design and testing of process solutions
- Procurement of process equipment and services
- Oversee installation works
- Handover to Operations and training of operators
- Production support, fault finding and continuous improvements
- Optimisation of existing processes (in terms of product quality, yield, and resource utilization)
- Contribute with leads for engineering projects, from design to implementation and startup of new production processes or upgrades to existing processes.
- Modernisation and improvements to automation
- Innovation and development of hydrolysis and biorefining technology
- Discover improvement potential through process data monitoring and evaluation.
The profile we are looking forward to welcome
We are seeking a very structured, organised, and precise team player. We assume that the right candidate for this position has the following background:
- Experience working in or managing engineering projects
- Hands-on experience with commissioning and start-up of process equipment
- Capable in written communication since you will work with documentation
- Flexibility to travel. If you live in Denmark, you will travel approximately 40 days to Skaganeset/Bergen, and if you live in Norway, youl shall expect approximately 90 days in Hirtshals.
The ideal profile also master engineering tools and methods like mass and energy balances, understands piping and instrumentation diagram, and are familiar with mechanical 2D / 3D drawings. Experience with food production and hygienic design will be a great advantage.
We imagine that you have at least 5 years of experience from an operational function in a processing company (preferably food/feed), where you have practical and theoretical experience from a production environment. It could be experience with design, project management or commissioning.
You must have a strong interest in continuous development of processes and products. You have the desire and ability to work broadly and deeply with quality.
You will work professionally in both Danish/Norwegian and English. If you have experience working with other Scandinavians, this is an advantage!
You are probably a trained project- or mechanical engineer or experienced technician. However, experience with the described tasks is the most important.
