Environmental Sustainability Specialist (maternity cover)

Samsøe Samsøe is looking for an Environmental Sustainability Specialist (maternity cover) to join our Sustainability team from October. The team is part of our Product Department and is responsible for managing and executing Samsøe Samsøe’s company-wide Sustainability Strategy. Its primary focus is to ensure our ambitious sustainability goals are achieved by integrating the strategy into the company’s daily operations and value chain.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

In this role, you will lead a range of environmental sustainability projects across Samsøe Samsøe, with a focus on Preferred Materials sourcing, Climate Strategy, Decarbonization, Environmental Management, Circularity, and regulatory compliance.

Working closely with teams across Design, Buying, Sourcing, Production, Quality, Logistics, and external partners, you will turn our sustainability strategy into practical action, strengthen environmental performance, and support compliance with evolving legislation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the execution and delivery of environmental sustainability projects across the business, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
• Support the implementation of Samsøe Samsøe's Climate Strategy and decarbonization roadmap, including greenhouse gas accounting and emissions reduction initiatives.
• Drive initiatives related to Preferred Materials sourcing and support the continuous improvement of our material portfolio.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into product development, sourcing decisions, and Digital Product Passport requirements.
• Manage environmental data collection, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making, Carbon Footprint reporting, and external disclosure requirements.
• Contribute to environmental management, circularity, and resource efficiency initiatives that reduce impacts across the value chain.
• Support compliance with evolving sustainability legislation, including CSRD, ESRS, ESPR, and Digital Product Passport requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers and strategic partners to improve environmental performance, traceability, and data quality.
• Develop tools, guidance, and training to strengthen sustainability knowledge across the organisation and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

YOUR PROFILE

You are passionate about environmental sustainability and motivated by translating strategy into practical actions and measurable improvements. You combine strong analytical skills with a collaborative mindset and thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities.

You will ideally bring:

• 3–4 years of relevant experience in corporate sustainability, preferably within fashion, textiles, or consumer goods.
• Hands-on experience with environmental sustainability topics, including Climate Strategy, decarbonization, Preferred Materials, supply chain sustainability, environmental management, or circularity.
• Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving initiatives from execution to completion.
• A solid understanding of sustainability due diligence, supplier engagement, and responsible sourcing processes, including remediation and corrective action planning.
• Knowledge of sustainability legislation and reporting frameworks, including ESRS, ESPR, and Digital Product Passports.
• Strong analytical skills with experience managing sustainability data, KPIs, reporting tools, and environmental performance metrics.
• A structured and proactive approach with strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• An interest in systems, processes, and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external partners.
• Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• You are curious, solution-oriented, and eager to contribute to Samsøe Samsøe's sustainability journey by driving meaningful environmental improvements across the business.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Denmark without employer sponsorship, either through EU/EEA citizenship or a valid Danish work and residence permit.

The position is full-time and is based at the Head Office in Copenhagen. We are looking to fill this role start 1st of October, for a period of 10 months.
