The position We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer to create future standards for equipment that handles incoming materials and transform manual processes into fully automated ones. As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll collaborate with us and future vendors in developing, designing, and producing solutions for Novo Nordisk's global facilities. You'll need relevant automated material handling and/or robotics experience, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to optimize manufacturing through traditional automation and robotics. Your overall objective is to conceive and develop robotic solutions to optimize our manufacturing through traditional automation and robotics. Here is how we expect you to spend your time in this role:
  • Collaborate with vendors to design and implement prototypes and solutions.
  • Give expert input regarding your field of expertise and making sure that our specifications are up to date.
  • Visit vendors and participate in the development, design, and testing of the new equipment.
  • Ensure the final design is ready for implementation in the global production network, meeting all documentation requirements.

Qualifications To succeed in this position, we expect you to have:
  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree within engineering or natural sciences, manufacturing or similar which could be as mechanical engineer, process engineer, consultant, or technician.
  • An excellent command of verbal and written English (Danish, French and Chinese is desirable).
  • A strong customer focus and a quality mindset.
  • For the Mechanical Engineer role, we expect you to have strong theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas, ideally with at least 5 years of relevant experience:
  • Transformation projects from manual to automated solutions in high-volume production in the pharma industry or other GMP settings
  • Process design for material handling and/or robotics solutions and preparation of documentation for qualification activities according to GMP standards
  • Requirement documentation, technical solution assessment, and vendor oversight
  • Implementation, ramp-up, and ongoing support of material handling solutions
  • Having a deep understanding of these areas will enable you to succeed in creating state-of-the-art robotic solutions that optimize our manufacturing processes. About the department Inspection & Material-Handling is a department in the newly created SVP area of Fill-Finish Expansion which is anchored within Product Supply, which globally accounts for +19,000 of Novo Nordisk’s +55,000 employees. The responsibility of Fill-Finish Expansion is to plan and execute the establishment of new aseptic filling capacity across the global manufacturing network within BioTech and Rare Diseases (BRD) and Injectable Finished Products (IFP) for new filling platforms while ensuring harmonisation and global standards. Across the different roles there is a distinct global aspect as the end goal is a global standard and best practice, and working with multiple sites, cultures and traditions will be a key element.
