Do you want to be part of bringing stem cell-based therapies to patients suffering from serious chronic diseases? We are looking to expand our team within Cell Therapy Research with a talented scientist to support exploring the potential for stem cell-based therapy in T1 Diabetes. The position We are looking for research scientist that is ready to take on a 2-year position to help drive our efforts to expand our capabilities in suspension culture systems for pluripotent stem cell (PSC) derived islets for treatment of T1 Diabetes. A primary responsibility of the position will be to improve existing methods with special focus on scalable culture systems and protocol development to improve purity and functionality in clinical grade PSC lines. In addition, you will be responsible for exploring various methodologies such as flow cytometry, imaging, scRNAseq etc. with the goal of developing assays for characterizing and quantifying the on- and off-target cell types in the cell product. You will work closely together with many internal and external colleagues and collaborators. In the position, you will work as part of a small, dedicated project team, reporting to a project manager, and an important part of the role will be to drive, coordinate and prioritise activities to progress the project optimally. In addition, you will be responsible for effective communication of scientific data and general progress both internally, to the project manager and to external collaborators. Qualifications To be a successful candidate, you: Hold a Master of Science and PhD in biomedical sciences, developmental/stem cell biology, natural science or similar fields Have a background in pluripotent stem cell biology and experience with differentiation and protocol optimization Experience with in vitro assays such as flow cytometry, quantitative imaging methodologies, immunocytochemistry and gene expression analyses and ability to optimize and troubleshoot will be an advantage, but is not required Practical experience with suspension culture, scalable culture systems/bioreactors is preferred but not required Experience with islet biology and diabetes would be an advantage, but is not required In addition to your scientific profile, you are a curious, open-minded and innovative team player, as well as being result oriented and organised in your working routines. You thrive with working independently and like to take ownership and drive research activities forward in a pro-active manner. About the department The department Cell therapy Discovery is part of Novo Nordisk’s Cell Therapy R&D organisation, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. The R&D unit covers the full pharma R&D value chain, which means we function as an integrated entity, spanning from early research to GMP manufacturing, non-clinical and clinical development in the same organisation. Cell Therapy Discovery is situated in Måløv, Denmark and is an international and dedicated department of approximately 25 employees including scientists, technicians, and students, with expertise within stem cell differentiation & characterisation, genome editing tools, and sequencing & bioinformatics to design and characterise safe and efficacious cell therapy products with focus on hypoimmunogenic & functionally improved cell products.
