The position
As Director for Drug Product Outsourcing, you will head up a high performing and dedicated team of 8+ direct reports. Your area is responsible for driving the global strategic category management for drug products outsourcing ranging from Research and Development stages to product discontinuation.
Your overall responsibility is to continuously deliver according to the Strategic Sourcing value proposition through capturing CMO supply opportunities as well as establishing robust supply chains for new innovative drugs. We grow extensively so our focus is to ensure future capacity with a holistic view on elements such as cost, Capacity, sustainability, risk and quality.
Your primary tasks will include: Set clear direction for the department and foster performance and engagement through empowerment, clearly communicated category vision, goals and performance expectations. Ensuring that sourcing and category strategies are ambitious and serves the business needs throughout the lifecycle of the products. Drive for excellence, best practice development, as well as strategic height from a category and platform perspective. Develop strong and trusted relationships with management and key stakeholders, internally and externally. In addition, you will from time to time have to step into negotiations with suppliers if needed. You will report directly to the CVP of Strategic Sourcing and in the leadership-team take part in forming Strategic Sourcing’s strategy and organisation. In the leadership-team we have an environment where collaboration and room for different opinions are appreciated, as well as having a good time. As our suppliers are placed all around the world (mainly Europe and USA), you should expect approximately 20-30 days of travel per year. Qualifications You hold a degree as M.Sc. or MBA in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Business or similar. You have at least 5 years of experience as a people manager and have been working with international procurement, strategic sourcing or with a Contract Manufacturing Organization to the pharma industry for at least 8 years, preferably at a large international company. You have a proven procurement track record including experience from international top negotiations, combined with an ability to drive and facilitate change management processes. As a person, you have a commercial and strategic mind-set and an ability to quickly understand different business models and industry dynamics. You are known for your strategic execution skills. You have a high personal integrity and the ability to navigate across boundaries and communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders. You have strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate your team to deliver high quality results. About the department
Strategic Sourcing is the central strategic and commercial sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply division. We are responsible for securing that we have CMO’s and suppliers in place to support Novo Nordisk’s worldwide pharmaceutical production. Through collaboration and negotiations with international supplier networks, we ensure availability of the supply needed to produce our end products that help so many people around the world to live with chronic diseases. In Strategic Sourcing, we invest significant resources in developing our employees through coaching, frequent feedback, formal training and by giving challenging responsibilities to individuals.
