Do you want to be part of a dynamic, technology-driven cross functional team engaged in cutting edge digital science, bioinformatics and with focus on Cell Therapy to develop novel therapies for the treatment of chronic diseases like Type 1 Diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease and Chronic Heart Failure?
About the department / team
We are the CompBio/Cell therapy team, a subunit of the New Modalities and Drug Delivery department in the AI and Digital Research Area and a cross-functional team of computational biologists supporting the Cell Therapy Transformational Research Unit (TRU). Our team addresses data-related challenges arising from the cell therapy value chain spanning research and CMC to development and regulatory. We also focus on cutting-edge technologies and analytical approaches from cell product characterisation using single-cell technologies to differentiation protocol optimisation using simulations and modelling approaches. We are located in Måløv, Denmark, and comprise five specialists/scientists and three part-time associate scientists/technicians. We are experts in NGS technologies and state-of-the-art bioinformatics analyses, and we have our own in-house NGS facilities.
The position
We are seeking a talented and motivated senior scientist to support all state-of-the-art genomics and transcriptomics applications for our cell therapy projects. The successful candidate will work closely with our computational scientists and biologists to analyse data, devise and execute data-driven strategies to optimize existing cell differentiation protocols. The candidate will help develop pipelines and tools to promote and speed up the process of generating and analysing different data modalities such as genomics, single-cell transcriptomics, spatial-omics as well as biopsy and bioreactors related data to advance our understanding of stem cell biology. As a technical expert in digital sciences, you will provide guidance on the use of bioinformatic approaches, NGS, and related technologies to solve specific research challenges, map current needs, and prepare action plans with deadlines. You will also be responsible for analysing, interpreting, and reporting scientific findings and working closely with our computational and stem cell experts to propel new discoveries. In this position, you will have the freedom to build internal and external collaborations, explore novel datasets and methodologies, propose infrastructural development, and participate in group strategy discussions. A drive and flair for developing and implementing new digital tools and working in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary team environment is essential.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational science or related field preferably with post-doctoral and/or industrial experience in digital sciences Broad experience in next-generation sequencing methods, from experimental design to data analysis Broad experience in data processing, development of analysis pipelines and implementing third party digital tools Experience and fluency with the R and Python programming, linux environment, git version control, Shiny app and R package development Experience with machine learning and statistical modelling Strong ability to present complex data as reflected in peer-reviewed publications. In addition to your scientific profile, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and innovative team player with good collaboration skills, who thrives in diverse and cross functional teams
In addition, it will be considered an advantage if you have:
Experience with software and web development Experience with cloud and ad-hoc server administration Experience in single cell genomics and transcriptomics data analysis.
