The position As Senior Director, you will lead and manage a department of 7-10 highly skilled medical doctors with extensive knowledge in rare disease and/or drug development to drive projects for haemophilia and other rare bleeding disorders. You will provide subject matter and drug development expertise to be contributor to the overall strategy and execution of the key projects. You are expected to collaborate closely with other managers and take an active part in developing the area and the team as well as a lead role in various improvement projects. You will manage relationships with internal and external key collaborators, including Novo Nordisk affiliates. Additionally, be accountable for the medical deliveries, both by leading others as well as executing hands-on work, in these projects. The role reports to the Vice President of Medical and Science and is part of the Medical & Science Rare Disease & Advanced Therapies management team. Qualifications Medical degree with documented clinical and scientific research experience, preferably from a PhD. 8-10 years’ experience in clinical development within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, from early-stage to lifecycle management A proven track record of executing clinical trials and interacting with health authorities including submission experience Ability to set direction, lead and motivate a team and have a strong wish to invest in the personal development of your team members It is an advantage to have experience in the therapy area, rare bleeding disorders/haemophilia Fluency in English (written and spoken) is a requirement You are passionate about developing and leading people and demonstrate leadership qualities. You display excellent collaboration and communication skills and evident commitment to create winning teams with focus on continuous people development. You have an ability to set meaningful and clear directions in a complex environment with many stakeholders. About the department In Medical & Science, Rare Disease & Advanced Therapies (RD&AT) we are responsible for clinical development in rare bleeding, blood and endocrine disorders and are on a transformative and exciting journey to expand into multiple new indications using the most advanced technology platforms. The area comprises close to 40 people including clinical specialists, clinical pharmacologists and administrators. We are developing clinical strategies to support progress of the Novo Nordisk Rare Disease portfolio. The work comprises bridging early ideas from research to clinical development, work with regulatory approvals, and support of marketed products in life cycle management. We are responsible for the planning and execution of global clinical trials and for medical and scientific support to health authority interactions. We are instrumental in providing documentation and interpretation of clinical data leading to New Drug Applications (NDAs) and variation applications, periodic safety updated on marketed drugs and drugs in clinical development, market access, and external scientific communication.
