The position As we are expanding into new therapeutic areas, efficient predictive in vitro screening tools are needed to facilitate medium and high-throughput screening of peptides, proteins, therapeutic antibodies, and novel RNAi-based concepts. We are looking for great people with different experience levels, so this role can be on the level of a Senior Scientist, or a Specialist. A ranking will be performed based on the individual experience level and qualification of a suitable candidate. Your main responsibilities will include: Designing, developing, and conducting advanced and robust cellular in vitro assays to drive the selection of drug candidates. Developing and improving screening strategies to ensure selection of the best drug candidates within different therapeutic areas. Contributing to establishment of assays for species qualification as well as bioactivity assays for Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC). In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with project teams, department scientists, and laboratory technicians. The research and discovery work is organized in multidisciplinary cross-functional project teams, and you will represent the department across a range of projects. The working environment in Global Research Technologies is dynamic and innovative and involves interactions with colleagues from research sites in Denmark, US, UK, and China, with an excellent opportunity to establish a strong global scientific network. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have: PhD in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related discipline and at least 3-5 years of post-degree research experience from the pharmaceutical industry with preclinical development of biologics and/or other molecular formats. Experience in design, development, and execution of cellular in vitro functional assays based on the use of both immortalized cell lines and primary cells Experience within assays of relevance comprising e.g., in vitro immunology assays, reporter gene assays, receptor binding assays or FRET assays. Hands-on experience with liquid handlers (e.g., Biomek, Hamilton or Tecan) and automated/semi-automated workflows for efficient screening processes. Furthermore, it is an advantage to have experience with flow cytometry or high-content imaging and flair for programming (R or Python) is likewise a plus. About the Department The Centre for Functional Assays & Screening is part of Global Research Technologies at Novo Nordisk located in Maaloev in the Copenhagen area of Denmark. We specialise in the design and execution of a variety of medium- and high-throughput screening assays with relevant biological read-outs and with a strong focus on automation and digitalisation. We deliver high-quality in vitro data to support the identification of drug candidates with desired functionalities in close collaboration with other parts of the research organization. CFAS consists of three sub-departments and comprises a total of 15 scientists, three associate scientists, 13 technicians as well as two students. You will be part of a high-performing, multidisciplinary team exploring and identifying new treatment options for diabetes, obesity, NASH, cardiovascular and kidney disease, haemophilia, and other rare blood and endocrine disorders.
