Then you could be the candidate we are looking for to lead the Antibody Technology department.The position The Head of Antibody Technology sets the direction for a department which is key in building a rich pipeline that leverages the unique advantages of our antibody technology and biotherapeutic engineering platforms both internally and via external licenses and collaborations. Your main responsibilities will focus on the following:
  • Provide people and scientific leadership to a team of highly experienced scientists and technicians, who work eagerly on advancing our established projects and on generating new innovative project and technology ideas
  • Set the strategic direction for the department, developing the people, and ensuring an inspiring and motivating working environment with a focus on individual empowerment and responsibility for defined areas
  • Ensure and lead the implementation of state-of-the-art expertise and technical capabilities in the field of antibody/biologics discovery and keeping scientifically up to date by actively engaging in scientific global networking
  • Engage actively in securing cross-functional collaboration through new ways of working and safeguard seamless collaboration across the organization with the therapy-, technology-, and computational areas on the entire workflow from in silico design to variant generation and functional/biophysical screening to ensure smooth execution of work and integration of data
  • Ensure department participation in project innovation work, including providing input to new internal project proposals and evaluation of external opportunities
  • Represent the department and present relevant biologic discovery know-how in various internal committees
  • Qualifications To thrive and succeed in the role, we expect you to have:
  • A Ph.D. in natural sciences or life sciences with at least 5 years of experience in drug design and discovery and profound people leadership experience, preferably from the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Excellent people management talent with a focus on building a team culture based on successful and respectful collaboration with many stakeholders across the global organization
  • Extensive experience with cutting-edge antibody discovery/biologics technologies, including hybridoma, single B cell cloning, microfluidics and/or display platforms and antibody/protein engineering. Knowledge of NGS technologies is considered an advantage
  • Knowledge of a broad spectrum of therapeutic modalities in biologics, including mono- and multi-specific antibodies as well as domain antibodies
  • Understanding of biological and disease-related concepts behind drug targeting is a plus

  • About the department Antibody Technology is part of the Recombinant Technologies unit at Novo Nordisk and the head of Antibody Technology is a member of the Recombinant Technology Leadership team, a team characterized by transparency, open-mindedness, and curiosity. The area’s six departments enable progression of an ambitious pipeline of novel therapeutics by development and application of forefront recombinant technologies for discovery, engineering, and production of biopharmaceuticals across the entire Novo Nordisk research portfolio. The Antibody Technology department develops assay and therapeutic antibodies and antibody domain modalities for projects across the Novo Nordisk therapy areas by utilising state-of-the-art antibody technologies such as yeast surface display, hybridoma, microfluidics and single cell technologies. High-throughput processes are an integral part of our daily work and a key element in both cell culturing and screening workflows. The department consists of +25 scientists and technicians highly skilled in antibody discovery. We work in a flexible, vastly collaborative, and cross-functional setting with a continuous focus on development of innovative technologies and personal competencies.
