About the position and the assignments

Danish Red Cross is looking for a new colleague with a strong interest in and experience from working with local partnerships and cooperation modalities, preferably with experience from the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. The Cooperation Advisor will support DRC’s approach to bilateral equitable partnerships with national Red Cross & Red Crescent societies in our countries of engagement. The Cooperation Advisor will also support DRC’s contribution to enhanced and strengthened cooperation within the RCRC Movement including support to and participation in ongoing global processes to develop new modalities, structures and guidance for coordination and cooperation (“New Ways of Working”). The Cooperation Advisor holds the responsibility for the DRC methodology for Partnership Review Talks and for facilitating such talks at country level.

The Cooperation Advisor is based at the DRC HQ in the International Operations Unit, with frequent travels to the field. You will work closely with colleagues at the DRC HQ and country offices as well as with the International Federation of the Red Cross Red Crescent (IFRC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and others.

The position is part of the Operations Unit and DRC’s Strategy and Localisation Team, which develops guidance and oversees and supports the operationalisation of DRC’s International Strategy when it comes to localisation including equal partnerships, national society development, cooperation modalities and community engagement. Each team member has a main technical area of responsibility and will also more generally contribute to ensure a well-coordinated DRC approach to localisation.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Keep overview of the status of DRC’s bilateral partnerships and provide analysis and support their development.
  • Contribute to capacity and risk assessments and to development of tools regarding partnerships in coordination with other Movement initiatives – including due diligence assessments and certification processes.
  • Lead and facilitate further development and roll out of DRC’s approach to local partnerships for organisational learning, guidance and trainings.
  • Advice DRC country managers on good partnership according to DRC policies and established values.
  • Lead DRC coordination in processes for new operational collaboration modalities with implementing partners inside the RCRC Movement.
  • Advice management and support DRC country managers in pilot countries of the “New Ways of Working” process.
  • Keep the DRC methodology and guidance for Partnership Review Talks alive and updated in alignment with strategic priorities and established partnership values.
  • Plan and facilitate Partnership Review workshops and develop training for other facilitators.
  • Support the planning and methodology of larger Movement-wide partnership meetings when requested.

Your profile
We are looking for a professional with at least five years of international experience with humanitarian and development organisations. You have experience from working in equitable partnerships and with cooperation and coordination modalities. You have strong facilitation and engagement skills as well as initiative and capacity to drive processes. You have experience with development and management of partnerships, preferably from the RCRC Movement.

You have excellent English language skills. Danish, French and/ or Arabic proficiency is considered an asset. You are a good communicator and a team player, and have a structured, systematic way of working and meeting deadlines. The position requires flexibility and ability to take lead and independently drive processes and agendas. You are available for field missions including in emergency response contexts. It is expected to have up to 8 weeks of travel.

The position is an open-ended full-time position - 37 working hours per week. Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargaining agreement with HK and AC with a salary level between DKK 43,500 – 49,300 depending on experience and qualifications, including allowances and pension. The position is placed at the Danish Red Cross Head Quarter on Blegdamsvej 27 in Copenhagen.
