Are you interested in bioprocess development and the potential of stem cells in cell therapy and disease modelling? Do you want to take part in building a state-of-the-art bioprocessing platform for the generation of stem cell derived macrophages? Then you are the Research Scientist we are looking for in Cell Therapy Research at Novo Nordisk. The position You will act as a research scientist who accelerates and coordinates the preparation of the pre-clinical macrophage therapy pipeline, managing and executing experimental work in Novo Nordisk that are aligned with research activities at our collaborators in Medizinische Hochschule Hannover (MHH). The research scientist will promote discussions on progressing the macrophage therapy pipeline and link efforts underway in Novo Nordisk and at MHH. The research scientist will work in Måløv (Denmark) and work in collaboration with the team at MHH. Your main responsibilities will include: Transferring the macrophage bioprocessing platform from MHH to Novo Nordisk Foster exchange with relevant departments at Novo Nordisk to ensure full production process compliance with all relevant regulatory aspects Coordination of research activities and exchange between MHH and Novo Nordisk Contribution to the translation of the technology to a clinical setting Qualifications You have experience in the field of human pluripotent stem cells and/or bioprocessing using stirred tank bioreactors and a high motivation for translational science to drive stem cell-based cell products into clinics. A background in the generation and handling of human macrophages is preferred. To be considered for this position you need to have: A PhD degree in developmental/stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, bioprocessing, bioengineering, biomedicine, biology, biochemistry or similar Background in pluripotent stem cell biology and experience with differentiation and protocol optimization towards mesodermal lineages Experience and expertise in key in vitro assays such as flow cytometry, quantitative imaging methodologies, immunocytochemistry and gene expression analyses and ability to optimize and troubleshoot. Practical experience with suspension culture, scalable culture systems/bioreactors is preferred Excellent written and spoken English As a person, you have strong and clear communication skills, can drive the scientific project forward and thrive with working independently and taking ownership. About the department The Department of Stem Cell Biology is a dynamic, technology-driven department, and part of Cell Therapy R&D; a Transformational Research Unit (TRU) within Novo Nordisk. The TRU combines access to in house generated clinical grade cell lines with extensive in-house research facilities, GMP manufacturing sites and translational teams to facilitate end-to-end thinking from bench to marketed product, reaching people with serious, often life-threatening diseases. It also relies heavily on long term collaborations with external, often academic partners like Medizinische Hochschule Hannover.
