The Department The Safety Operations Advisers area currently consists of 18 highly competent and engaged colleagues primarily with a medical, veterinarian, or pharmacist background. The main responsibilities for the department are to perform health hazard evaluations in connection with potential product recalls, safety evaluations as part of internal non-conformities, perform medical review of individual case safety reports from clinical trials, review clinical trial and non-interventional study protocols to ensure adequate collection of safety information according to regulatory requirements and Novo Nordisk procedures, and to chair cross functional groups for clinical trials within Global Safety. The Safety Operations Advisers area is part of Safety Operations (+100 team members), which is one of the functional areas in Global Safety (+450 team members) We have an informal office culture where humour and good relations are valued as we believe it promotes collaboration, conversation, and teamwork, which is essential for us to succeed in our work. The Position You will report to the Vice President of Safety Operations and be responsible for the management and strategic development of the Safety Operations Advisors area. You will ensure allocation of resources, development, motivation, training, and coaching of staff and the continuous development and improvement of the organization and area. The position leads an area consisting of 18 highly educated and independent professionals, specialists, and people managers. The main areas of responsibilities include:
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Safety Operations Advisers area
  • Active participation in the management and strategic direction of Safety Operations
  • Establish, maintain, operate, and continuously develop processes and the setup within global Safety Operations Advisers supporting the Novo Nordisk pipeline and ambitions
  • Secure key responsibilities are fulfilled in relation to regulatory inspections and internal audits
  • Ensure leadership and continuous people development of highly competent professionals, specialists, and people managers
  • Maintain and develop close collaboration with key stakeholders across the value chain including Safety Surveillance, Clinical Operations, Medical and Science, and Product Supply
  • Close collaboration and alignment with the Global Safety hub in Bangalore in relation to resource planning and strategy to ensure optimal and flexible use of resources across hubs
    • The position is based in Søborg, Denmark. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
  • Relevant master’s degree in Health or Natural Sciences (MD, DVM, MSc Pharm or equivalent)
  • Profound knowledge of international pharmacovigilance related legislation
  • Documented experience with evaluation of drug/device safety both within clinical trials and in a post-marketing setting
  • Successful experience with people management and/or leadership roles
  • Documented experience with clinical research (including GCP) and drug development from the pharmaceutical industry
  • Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry with experience from various departments
  • Excellent coaching skills to lead and develop professionals, specialists and people managers
  • Strong understanding of medical concepts, disease processes, scientific methodology and data analysis
  • High sense of prioritising, flexibility as well as the ability to keep an oversight
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives with leading through ambiguity
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
