The Department The Event Adjudication area consists of 25 highly engaged team members from various academic backgrounds. We establish and execute procedures for setting up, conducting, and closing event adjudication activities in clinical trials. We work in a fast-paced environment on an increasing number of trials in the late-stage clinical development, where adverse events require adjudication. Event adjudication is a process where an independent review board of medical specialists assesses relevant adverse events for fulfilment of pre-defined clinical criteria, with the purpose of generating high quality data for our clinical trials. The process is driven by the event adjudication area in close collaboration with internal stakeholders across the value chain as well as external Clinical Research Organizations (CROs). The Event Adjudication area is part of Safety Operations (+100 team members), which is one of the functional areas in Global Safety (+450 team members) We have an informal office culture where humour and good relations are valued as we believe it promotes collaboration, conversation, and teamwork, which is essential for us to succeed in our work. The Position You will report to the Vice President of Safety Operations and be responsible for the management and strategic development of Event Adjudication. You will ensure allocation of resources, development, motivation, training, and coaching of staff and the continuous development and improvement of the organization and area. The position leads an area consisting of 25 professionals, specialists, and people managers. The main areas of responsibilities include:
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Event Adjudication area
  • Active participation in the management and strategic direction of Safety Operations
  • Establish, maintain, and operate a global event adjudication setup that is compliant with regulatory requirements and supporting the Novo Nordisk pipeline and ambitions
  • Active participation in the sounding board for the NextGen Event Adjudication project aiming at working with and improving strategy, technology and processes
  • Secure key responsibilities are fulfilled in relation to regulatory inspections and internal audits
  • Maintain and develop close collaboration with key stakeholders across the value chain including Clinical Operations, Clinical Outsourcing Management, Data Science, Medical and Science, Data Management and external CROs
  • Close collaboration and alignment with the Global Safety hub in Bangalore in relation to resource planning and strategy to ensure optimal and flexible use of resources across
  • The position is based in Søborg, Denmark. Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
  • Relevant master’s degree in Health or Natural Sciences (MD, DVM, MSc Pharm or equivalent)
  • Successful experience with people management and/or leadership roles
  • Documented experience with clinical research (including GCP) and drug development from the pharmaceutical industry
  • Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry with experience from various departments and working with CROs
  • Excellent coaching skills to lead and develop professionals, specialists and people managers
  • Good understanding of the regulatory landscape, medical concepts, disease processes, scientific methodology and data analysis
  • Flair for understanding cross-functional business processes including implementation of IT systems and working with agile methodologies
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
