Lead AI/ML Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead AI/ML Engineer to drive the design, development, and deployment of advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions that power Maersk’s digital and logistics transformation. In this senior individual contributor role, you will architect and deliver scalable AI/ML systems across domains such as predictive analytics, NLP, and Generative AI — enabling data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency.

You will collaborate closely with business, product, and engineering leaders to translate complex challenges into measurable AI outcomes, ensuring technical excellence, scalability, and impact. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on expertise in building enterprise-grade AI solutions, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence and elevate teams through technical leadership, best practices, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to define complex problem statements, evaluate feasibility, and design AI/ML-driven solutions that deliver measurable business impact. • Lead and execute large-scale, end-to-end AI/ML initiatives — including data exploration, model design, validation, deployment, and ongoing optimization in production environments. • Architect and implement scalable AI/ML systems leveraging data engineering, machine learning, NLP, and Generative AI techniques. • Establish best practices for solution scalability, reproducibility, and governance through robust MLOps, CI/CD, and performance monitoring frameworks. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI/ML engineers and cross-functional teams through code reviews, solution design sessions, and knowledge sharing. • Evaluate and integrate emerging AI/ML frameworks, tools, and technologies to enhance innovation and delivery efficiency. • Communicate technical insights and translate model outcomes into actionable business recommendations using data storytelling and visualization.

We are looking for:

• A seasoned AI/ML professional with 10+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying enterprise-scale AI/ML solutions. • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, PySpark, and experience with cloud ecosystems (Azure preferred) and tools such as Databricks, Synapse, ADF, and Azure Web Apps. • Strong expertise in Applied Machine Learning, NLP, and Generative AI, with proven experience in production-grade deployments. • In-depth understanding of model lifecycle management, including evaluation, optimization, interpretability, bias mitigation, and continuous monitoring. • A problem solver with scientific rigor, strong business acumen, and the ability to bridge data science with decision-making and product outcomes. • Experience leading complex AI/ML projects or collaborating with global engineering teams to operationalize ML pipelines and scalable architectures. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline; a PhD is an added advantage. • Prior exposure to the shipping and logistics domain is a plus
