Key tasks:
- Responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems on ships
- Troubleshoot, diagnose electrical problems and find solutions
- Maintain electrical equipment and oversee the installation of new electrical systems
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
- Performs other duties as required
Skills:
- English - must be able to communicate in English
- Must know how to read and interpret various types of plans and sketches
- Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety
- Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience:
- Experience from shipyards
- Education or professional experience in a given position
