Would you like to be part of changing the treatment paradigms for cardiometabolic diseases? We are looking for Principal Scientist with a passion for drug discovery and a deep cardiomyopathy disease understanding to join Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease Research. The position As Principal Scientist you will be part of an ambitious multidisciplinary team exploring and identifying new treatment options for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Working closely with scientists and technicians throughout the organisation to move projects forward across the value chain. Furthermore, you will take part in evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech, or pharma. You will provide scientific leadership within Heart Failure and advance novel drug targets through the pipeline utilizing advanced translational tools as well as multicellular in vitro disease models. You will work in close collaboration with fellow scientist across the organisation and you are expected to stay on top of relevant developments in the field, commercial as well as academic. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. and have a minimum of 8 years of experience in academia and/or pharma/biotech industry. Drug discovery experience and project management from pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred. You have a scientific track-record within heart failure pathophysiology, more specifically cardiomyopathy, and you have profound experience setting up and running advanced human in vitro models of cardiac disease (e.g., engineered heart tissues, microphysiological systems, pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)). Expertise/experience utilizing bioinformatics approaches in drug discovery is an advantage.International work experience and a solid international scientific network is mandatory. In addition to your scientific profile, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and an innovative team player with good collaboration and problem-solving skills. You are organized and result oriented. About the department The position is anchored in the Heart and Skeletal Muscle biology department in the Type 2 Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease research area within Global Drug Discovery (GDD), Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation and pre-clinical characterisation of new assets to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues across GDD, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterise and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
