Financial Modelling Expert - M&A and Asset Financing

The Team


As our new Financial Modelling Expert, you will join our M&A and Asset Financing team at our Headquarters in Søborg, Copenhagen. The team currently has 26 committed colleagues, and we are responsible for managing our divestments as well as the project and asset financing of our assets. We lead all projects, portfolio divestments, partnerships, and financing transactions, managing them from origination to closing. Additionally, we take the lead on financial modelling, investor management, and negotiations with investors and financing banks. Our department is part of the newly established CCO organization, which has a holistic and strategic focus on [xxxxx]’s sales activities.

Within M&A + Asset Financing you will join a specialized line called Valuation & Modelling, which is a smaller team consisting of three colleagues, who are mainly focused on the valuation of projects leading up to Final Investment Decision (FID) and along with that work on establishing guidelines and best practices for various financial modelling tasks.

How you will create an impact


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Modelling Expert to strengthen our M&A and Asset Financing team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for consolidating and refining the financial models used in complex renewable energy transactions—including wind, solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Power-to-X (PtX) projects.

You will act as the team’s go-to modelling authority, establishing and enforcing best practices, developing new model functionalities incl. hybrid and portfolio models, and ensuring the highest standards across all modelling activities.

Key responsibilities include


  • You consolidate, develop, and maintain robust, transparent financial models for use across the M&A and Asset Financing department.
  • You implement and enforce modelling best practices and guidelines to ensure consistency, reliability, and audit-readiness.
  • You serve as the central modelling expert and advisor to colleagues on advanced modelling challenges and new functionality development (e.g., hybrid energy projects, BESS, PtX models).
  • You continuously improve model structure, user-friendliness, and functionality to reflect changing technologies and market needs.
  • You collaborate closely with colleagues in M&A, Project Development, EPC, Energy Trading & PPA, Commercial and Technical Asset Management, and Finance to support deal structuring and investment decision-making.
  • You contribute to model reviews for due diligence, transactions, and third-party audits.

To succeed in the role, we imagine you have the following competencies


  • Master’s degree (MSc) in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • You have 8+ years of hands-on experience in financial modelling and/or model audit—preferably within M&A, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong exposure to renewable energy projects (solar, wind, storage, or PtX) and understanding of accounting principles is highly advantageous.
  • You have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (incl. VBA); familiarity with additional tools such as Python, SQL, or Power BI is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • You can communicate complex financial concepts clearly to stakeholders across functions.
  • You have strong organizational skills with a focus on process improvement and standardization.
  • You are fluent in English (spoken and written) and preferably speak one or more of the languages from the markets we operate in (e.g. Danish, German, Italian, etc.)
