Your role in our team

As a specialist in our Tool Design department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the precision, compliance, and quality of our manufacturing tools. Our tools are crucial for delivering aircraft parts with tight tolerances and excellent quality. The tool fleet consists of composite and metal tools and fixtures, including milling fixtures for machining and lay-up or bonding tools. Your focus will be on designing for compliance, process optimization, and alignment with customer requirements and industry standards like ASME Y14.5. With expertise in 2D/3D CAD design, materials science, and geometrical measuring techniques, you will collaborate with engineers, production operators, program managers, and business development — always keeping production as your primary stakeholder.

Your daily operations will vary between desk work and going to production overseeing the tools. By interacting with operators, you will understand and respond to production needs and design new and improve existing tools. You will use in-house 3D printers for prototyping and fast-turn solutions. Your creativity and problem-solving skills are essential in driving cost-effective, high-quality solutions. Depending on your aspirations and expertise you may contribute to advancing our capabilities through automation, digitalization, and smarter use of data, helping shape [xxxxx]’s tooling solutions for the future.

You will be part of a small, dedicated team of highly skilled engineers and specialists, currently consisting of four (including you). While each team member has a designated area of responsibility, we support each other and work with the mentality that every task is also the responsibility of the team. Tool Design has a wide contact area within the organization, meaning that we are always quite busy with a broad range of tasks. How you will make a meaningful contribution

Your key responsibilities include:

• Tool design and improvement, qualification and managing tools and tool changes
• CAD drawing and analysis
• Managing tool requirements and specifications
• Monitoring tool performance and supporting production needs
• Engaging with and retrieving offers from vendors and suppliers
• Providing technical support and advisory to internal stakeholders
• Representing [xxxxx] in technical discussions with customers, suppliers and external collaborators

Bring your world class expertise into play

You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. Moreover, it is an advantage if you have experience or knowledge within some of the following areas:

• CAD drawing and programming, e.g., Catia
• Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T), including GPS
• Manufacturing processes such as composite lay-up and cure, precision machining or assembly
• Materials knowledge, including machineability, spring back properties, thermal properties, material surface and interface interactions
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis and data-driven process optimization
• Automation and robotics

You may enter this role with a strong practical background, a relevant technical education, or a combination of both. A background in engineering, particularly within design, geometrical measuring techniques, and tolerancing is highly relevant. Experience in the aerospace industry and with composite manufacturing is considered an advantage.

As an ideal candidate you have a technical mindset and embrace the significance of compliance, operating with a high level of integrity. Your knowledge preferably comes from a combination of hands-on and theoretical experience. As a person, you have an analytical and structured approach that enables you to translate complex requirements into precise solutions. You are comfortable spending time on the production floor engaging with our skilled production staff identifying issues and working creatively and collaboratively on solutions. You possess strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues.
