Job description
BIG’s Product Department operates as a focused industrial design studio within the broader practice, extending BIG’s efforts in architecture into products. A key ambition is to strengthen BIG’s architecture by designing products that enhance the experience of our buildings and projects. We work directly with external clients and manufacturing partners, delivering full industrial design services. When relevant, we collaborate closely with in-house specialists such as architects, technologists, and engineers to strengthen our product work.
We are looking for a talented Industrial Designer to join our Product Department in Copenhagen. You will work in a small, highly collaborative team and contribute across the full design process, from early concepts to production-ready solutions. The role suits a designer who enjoys moving between scales and typologies, values strong concepts grounded in technical understanding, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary setting.

We are looking for a talented Industrial Designer to join our Product Department in Copenhagen. You will work in a small, highly collaborative team and contribute across the full design process, from early concepts to production-ready solutions. The role suits a designer who enjoys moving between scales and typologies, values strong concepts grounded in technical understanding, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary setting.
The ideal candidate:
- Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or similar
- Strong conceptual skills and the ability to communicate ideas visually
- Ability to visualize and iterate quickly; design discussions are largely driven by what we can see and evaluate
- Solid 3D modeling skills in Rhino, SolidWorks, or Fusion
- Strong 3D visualization skills using KeyShot, D5, Enscape, or similar
- Confidence working with complex 3D files that include spatial assets such as architecture, landscape, or interiors
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing principles
- Hands-on mindset, including physical model making and rapid prototyping
- Good judgment in selecting appropriate tools and processes for a given task (e.g. modeling, diagramming, prototyping)
- Proficiency in InDesign for presentations and Photoshop for image editing
- Ability to apply AI-based visualization tools thoughtfully and critically
- Willingness to learn new tools and workflows, or introduce relevant new ones
- Professional working proficiency in English
Job Responsibilities
- Concept development from early ideation to defined design directions
- 3D modeling for both rapid exploration and detailed development (DFM)
- Creation of high-quality visualizations for internal and external communication
- Development of clear narratives and layouts for presentations
- Research and briefing analysis
- Production of proof-of-concept models, including 3D printing and other rapid prototyping methods
- Active participation in client meetings and presentations
- Gradual assumption of responsibility through on-the-job learning and team collaboration
- Contribution to shared knowledge and development of the Product Department
