DHI supports clients internationally with a wide range of projects from large infrastructure projects for international clients to minor projects for local clients.
You will be joining the team as a Senior Engineer and your main focus area will be on numerical modelling, e.g. OpenFOAM or DHI’s own MIKE software.
The work consists of technical support during the design process by numerical modelling in e.g. OpenFOAM, MIKE3 Wave FM and MIKE MA. Therefore an important part will be working with coupling models, say MIKE3 Wave FM combined with OpenFOAM.
It is expected that you can support the clients solving their challenges based on numerical modelling with verification and/or design optimizations and engage actively in discussions with the clients enabling them to gain trust in their design.
Finally, you should help drive the business development by promoting DHI services within numerical modelling to existing and new client. It is preferred that you have experience in this.
- As a Senior Engineer your focus area will be development: On CFD numerical modelling, e.g. OpenFOAM or DHI’s own MIKE software
- Focus will also be to support clients internationally with a wide range of projects from large infrastructure projects for international clients to minor projects for local clients.
- Contribute to developing DHI’s business within numerical modelling, but talking to both existing and new clients.
Key areas of responsibility & tasks
- Leading preparation of proposals including both commercial and research opportunities
- Leading and executing projects alone or together with a project team
- Scoping projects together with clients internationally
- Sharing of knowledge within the team and DHI
- Technical support during the design process and numerical modelling
- Typical tasks could be wave transformation, short term distributions, loads, run up, overtopping for marine and hydraulic structures, floating offshore wind turbine response, water inlets and outfalls for power plants and scour around offshore structures
- Contributing to innovation and developments within the numerical services
- Business development of the offshore wind segment within CFD
Criteria of Success

Qualifications
Critical experience
- Years of professional track record with numerical modelling within marine and hydraulic engineering and/or research
- Deep knowledge of OpenFOAM
- Programming skills within C++
- Scripting skills with Matlab and/or Python
Skills
- Knowledge of wave generation and wave transformation in OpenFOAM
- Knowledge of wave structure interaction in OpenFOAM
- Knowledge of morphology e.g. scour and sediment transport
- MIKE software especially MIKE3 Wave FM
- Project management of commercial or research projects
- Exceptional skills in written and verbal English
