Do you have experience with payroll operations and excellence across countries and do you excel in a role combining operational responsibility with a strategic outlook?

You are offered an opportunity to step into a newly established role, a key position in a growing international company, where you, together with a skilled team, will lead operations and optimisation of the payroll function across Europe.

You will become a central part of the People team at Awaze, Europe’s leading vacation rental company, and play an important role in ensuring that payroll processes support the continued growth of the business across 10+ countries.

The Role


Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer in the UK, you will deliver payroll administration and operations across Europe in close collaboration with external payroll partners and internal stakeholders in HR and Finance. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution, giving you the opportunity to set direction, optimise processes and structures, and provide advisory to key stakeholders.

Your team includes 4 direct reports including one manager, and indirectly, there are resources in some countries supporting payroll administration. Together, you ensure Awaze’s payroll systems and processes are consistent, scalable, and compliant with local country regulations.

Additional tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute significantly to monthly closings, reporting, and audit processes.
  • Coordinate payroll processing in 10+ European countries via external providers.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll as well as compliance with local tax and employment laws.
  • Optimise and standardise payroll processes and data integrations across countries and systems.
  • Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and Tax about compliance, controls, and reporting.
  • Participate in audits and preparation of required documentation.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports and payroll journals.
  • Advise managers and teams on payroll, contracts, and local regulatory differences.

With your experience in international payroll, you bring both professional depth and the necessary overview to lead and further develop a professional payroll function in a global context. Furthermore, professionally, you have:

  • Proven experience in managing multiple countries’ payroll operations via third-party vendors.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, systems, and Nordic or European labour and tax regulations.
  • Experience with payroll-related financial reporting and reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve and standardise payroll operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
  • Experience with transforming HRIS and payroll systems is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and Danish is nice-to-have.
