Role: Head of Global Material Handling Equipment(MHE)
Reports to: Head of Equipment and Automation
Location: Denmark, HQ

We are looking for a person with a very good techno-commercial understanding and background within warehousing space in logistics. The Asset Strategy & Strategic Partnerships function (where this role is anchored) aim to achieve the right asset intensity to enable our growth and make sure we deliver quality customer outcomes regardless of asset ownership. As the Head of Warehousing Automation Category, you and your teams are pivotal in delivering said outcomes - and this is integral with the success of this role.
Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and deploying the warehousing MHE procurement category strategies in consultation with global and regional stakeholders
- Identify, qualify, and establish the global and regional MHE partners in consultation with key internal stakeholders
- Establish governance infrastructure which includes key stakeholders for driving MHE category strategies globally.
- Ability to bring supply market insights in various internal forums providing the market dynamic and partnership opportunities with various relevant suppliers
- Ability to standardise and scale up “Go to market” strategies with investment projects requiring MHE solutions
- Develop and embed standard “Go to Market” tool kit or standard tender package for MHE investments
- Lead key MHE Investment projects – Source to Contract in collaboration with stakeholders
- Build investment pipeline for MHE deployment across markets globally
- Develop Contracting methodology and standard templates to allow faster onboarding of MHE suppliers
- Support the business functions and business units in resolving Supplier Delivery, Quality, Commercial or Contractual issues
- Establishing partnership approaches and documentation to forge strong relationships
- Own the supplier relationships within MHE supplier’s portfolio
- Manage the asset database to ensure right procurement interventions, to optimise the fleet population in Maersk
- Work in a diverse and international environment with 100,000+ enthusiastic colleagues in more than 130 countries
- You will build the category almost from scratch – the strategy is in place and some core people secured, but this is a “start-up” – which needs to scale and deliver as fast as possible
- Ideate and contribute to Maersk’s industry leading decarbonization movement – you will have direct impact on our way forward in decarbonizing the logistics industry
- Spearhead an unprecedented ramp-up of warehousing growth
- Set up the right data points, drive data analysis and data driven decision making for the business
- Build pricing catalogues for standard MHEs and automated procurement process to maturity of self service
What you bring
- First and Foremost- You burn with a passion to drive warehousing business and the value it brings in safety, productivity, reliability of operations and create customer delight
- You are a senior leader with hands-on direct experience in setting up, procuring, and contracting large warehousing MHE deployments for International blue-chip logistics and manufacturing companies
- You have experience working with or for top MHE suppliers at a global level, procured and deployed large fleet at multiple warehousing locations and/or managed large fleets for reliability and performance
- You have expert level understanding of how the global MHE supplier operate in various global markets and a good grasp of dealer network and how to deal with complex local dynamics by leveraging global relationships.
- Hands on using digital procurement systems
- You have diverse and full life cycle experience within warehousing MHE solution Implementation space, from concept to go live to steady state operations and you fully understand and apply with ease the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) frameworks for capex and opex. You are expert in deriving the MHE solutions ownership models- Upfront capex, lease, or subscription models
- Through your strong interpersonal skills and experiences, you find it easy to build relationships on all levels, both internally and externally
- You enjoy delivering in a fast-paced environment where reporting lines are fluid, ambiguity exists, and the accountability is real and forever present
- You do not shy away from making decisions and providing your recommendation, and you can handle complex stakeholder constellations
- Taking a strategy to implementation is something you prior experience with – and it excites you.
- Comfortable with international travel up to approximately 30% per annum
Furthermore, we hope that you have:
- A university degree within Business Administration, Supply Chain, or other relevant field
- Preferably experience from roles within warehouse material handling equipment Category Management, Sourcing and Procurement OR from global MHE suppliers
- A personality and an approach that supports being the subject matter expert on MHE to our key stakeholders
- the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work with people from different backgrounds
- Strong ability to effectively manage in a matrix organizational structure working with multiple internal clients
- a dynamic and self-starter profile with a result oriented (KPI) approach and the ability to motivate others to deliver results.
- an ability to work towards deadlines
- strong negotiation experience and skills.
