The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology invites applications for a PhD scholarship within the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics for studying cellular signalling. The position is available from 15 August 2023 or soon thereafter. Application deadline: 30 June 2023.

The position will be based in an international, collaborative, and interdisciplinary working environment in the group of Professor Blagoy Blagoev. The selected applicant will have access to a unique collection of state-of-the art mass spectrometers and complementary technologies for cell and molecular biology research.

The position is financed by a grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The funded project aims at building knowledge on key regulators involved in cellular fate determination of adult stem cells. The chosen candidate will develop and apply mass spectrometry-based quantitative approaches to decipher the composition of the multi-protein complexes formed on these decisive regulators, and will further characterize their involvement in driving stem cell differentiation. The PhD student will also contribute to various teaching activities at the department and to the supervision of undergraduate students.

We seek a highly motivated, dedicated, and ambitious scientist with strong communication and collaborative skills. The successful candidate should have documented experience with mass spectrometry-based proteomics and hold a Master’s degree in Life Sciences, preferably proteomics, molecular biology, biomedicine, or systems biology. Additional experience with cell and molecular biology techniques, and familiarity with computational data analysis will be greatly valued. The candidate should be proficient in spoken and written English and have an interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment.

For further information please contact Professor Blagoy Blagoev ([email protected]).

Application, salary etc.
Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years. Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
