ABOUT THE ROLE

As Head of Category, you will own the full category strategy and direction across all product areas. You will translate strategic ambitions into executable, actionable plans and lead the end-to-end product lifecycle - from idea to market - across both B2B wholesale and D2C e-commerce channels, with an omni mindset.

You will own the Assortment Planning and Merchandising and will lead a small, high-impact team consisting of an Assortment Planner and Omni Merchandiser.

You will be a key partner to the CEO/Founder/Creative Director and work in close collaboration with the Head of Design, Buying/Production, Sales, E-commerce, and Marketing to ensure category, product, and commercial priorities move in lockstep.

This role requires a solid business understanding, a deep knowledge of how to scale products in an entrepreneurial environment, and a speed-to-action, solution-oriented, “make it happen” mindset. The ability to operate with agility, anticipate change, and stay ahead of the curve is essential.

You will also be part of:

  • PLT (Product Leadership Team) together with Head of Design, Head of Buying/Production, and Head of Compliance/CSR


  • XMG (Extended Management Group of Head ofs)


  • S&OP team, ensuring alignment across FP&A, sales controlling/forecasting, demand planning, and assortment planning


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Category Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute category strategies and transform these strategies into clear, executable plans with strong cross-functional alignment.


  • Work closely with the Creative Director/Owner to define category direction, design intent, and collection strategy.


  • Lead yearly category planning, including segmentation of assortments for different customer groups, channels, and markets.


  • Ensure strong business cases for all category initiatives, balancing ambition with feasibility.


  • Use data, insights, and performance metrics to steer product and category decisions.


  • Provide clear reporting and actionable insights of category performance to the executive leadership team.


Assortment & Collection Planning

  • Ensuring a consumer-relevant full year perfect assortment – catering to full year needs and storylines with relevant focus styles


  • With the Assortment Planner, continuously refine the assortment based on consumer, channel, and market dynamics (optimize range breadth, depth, and timing based on demand, seasonality, and strategic priorities)


  • Support commercial teams with segmented assortments, market insights, and strategic input for new market entries and channel growth.


Commercial Alignment & Merchandising

  • Ensure tight alignment between category strategy and go-to-market (GTM) plans across all channels.


  • Drive B2B/D2C (omni) merchandising strategy to ensure category performance across all commercial channels.


  • Collaborate closely with B2B and D2C leaders to optimize availability, assortment flow, pricing, and channel-specific opportunities.


Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small but highly skilled team (Assortment Planner + Omni Merchandiser).


  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, agility, and data-driven decision-making.


  • Collaborate closely across functions and operate with a solution-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset.


Product Lifecycle Management

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from idea to end-of-life.


  • Drive structured decision-making through the product development gate process.


  • Maintain and own the Yearly Collection Wheel, ensuring transparency and organizational alignment.


Pricing & Margin Optimization

  • Develop pricing architectures that reinforce [xxxxx]’s market positioning as affordable luxury/premium.


  • Continuously analyze performance, cost structures, margin drivers, and regional price sensitivities.


  • Ensure pricing supports both competitiveness and profitability across global markets.


Market Insights & Competitive Analysis

  • Stay ahead of the curve by proactively monitoring industry shifts and emerging opportunities


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3~5 years of experience in category management, product management, or merchandising management within lifestyle, fashion, design, or consumer goods.


  • Deep experience in omni-channel (B2B & D2C) assortment planning and merchandising


  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities with the ability to translate strategy into operational plans


  • Solid business understanding with the ability to quickly grasp priorities, connect commercial and product decisions, and take ownership


  • Experience working in entrepreneurial, fast-moving companies with a “can-do,” speed-to-action mindset


  • Fluent in English


  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools (e.g., Power BI)


FURTHER OPTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • International market experience, especially in Europe and APAC


  • Additional languages (e.g., German) are a plus
