Want to join one of the leading architectural firms in the world and play a key role in delivering technically robust, high-profile landscape and urbanism projects? BIG Copenhagen is now seeking an ambitious Senior Landscape Architect to join the BIG Landscape department.
We are a company experiencing steady growth, and as we grow, we also strive to mature. We have over the past 15 years developed from a 10 to a 750 people organization in Copenhagen, New York, London, Barcelona, Shenzhen and Los Angeles.
The Senior Landscape Architect will report directly to the Landscape Partner and work BIG Landscape Leadership team, The ideal candidate will combine design excellence with proven technical leadership and project delivery experience from early project stages through tender and construction.

The Senior Landscape Architect will report directly to the Landscape Partner and work BIG Landscape Leadership team, The ideal candidate will combine design excellence with proven technical leadership and project delivery experience from early project stages through tender and construction.
Key responsibilities:
- Design of landscape and urban design projects and day-to-day coordination of the BIG team;
- Handle coordination of internal and external project teams, including consultants, engineers, and specialists;
- Technical development and management of landscape and urban design projects;
- Oversight of detailed design packages, technical specifications, and tender documentation aligned with relevant standards;
- Production and coordination of drawing sets;
- Lead internal QA/QC reviews, technical audits, and compliance checks;
- Ensuring design intent and quality across all stages;
- Engaging with clients and consultants and presenting design options;
- Manage client expectations, project risks, and decision-making processes;
- Balancing design intent, costs, and technical feasibility in close collaboration with design leadership;
- Oversee construction-phase tasks, including submittal reviews, RFI responses, site visits, contractor coordination, and monitoring installation quality;
- Mentor junior and intermediate team members and provide technical guidance across the studio;
- Contribute to bid proposals, project scheduling, and resourcing for technical workstreams;
Technical requirements and knowledge:
- Extensive experience with later-phase landscape and urbanism projects, including large-scale master planning and the development of urban spaces from concept to execution;
- Experience with tender documentation, technical specifications, and regulatory submissions;
- Expertise in managing technical aspects of projects at later phases, including detailed design, technical documentation, and the execution of complex urban environments;
- Experience with construction sequencing, phasing strategies, and contractor coordination;
- In-depth knowledge of landscape and urban design principles applied to large-scale master plans, infrastructure, and public space design;
- Ability to oversee and manage the implementation of master plans through construction phases, ensuring quality control and adherence to design intent;
- Experience in sustainability and resiliency practices for large-scale urban and landscape interventions, with knowledge of integrating green infrastructure, water management, and climate-responsive design strategies in later phases of projects;
- Proficiency in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, engineers, and contractors, to ensure the successful delivery of complex projects;
- Ability to address and resolve technical challenges during construction and ensure projects meet regulatory standards and budget constraints;
- Familiarity with the intricacies of post-construction landscape maintenance and management strategies.
- Proficiency with BIM and digital coordination environments (Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, or equivalent).
The ideal candidate:
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Landscape Architect with demonstrable experience delivering projects through tender and construction
- Experience with client management and project coordination;
- Strong conceptual and design skills paired with strong technical clarity, construction knowledge, and the ability to translate design intent into buildable solutions.;
- Experience with technical detailing and documentation;
- Proficiency in Revit, Rhino, and Adobe Suite;
- Experience in an array of typologies (public, private, master planning) and technical realms (resiliency, large and small scale);
- Experience in material selection and construction detailing;
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written);
