Does the intricate dance between microbes and human biology fascinate you? Are you passionate about unlocking the secrets of the microbiome to revolutionize the future of skincare?
Then we need your passion and expertise! L'Oréal is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Microbiome Discovery team based in Copenhagen. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of cutting-edge research and to be a part of L’Oréal’s global Research & Innovation entity based in Denmark, exploring the potential of host-microbiome interactions for developing the next generation of cosmetic innovations.
As our new Research Scientist you will be instrumental in establishing our new Copenhagen-based cell lab, developing assays, and screening for groundbreaking discoveries that will transform the beauty industry.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and validate cell line-based assays to study host-microbiome interactions, particularly focusing on immunological mechanisms. Establish and maintain our new cell lab, ensuring optimal functionality and adherence to best practices. Plan and execute in vitro experiments to screen for microbiome-derived compounds or formulations with cosmetic applications. Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings to the broader research team and management. Collaborate with internal and external partners to advance our understanding of the skin microbiome. We offer:
The chance to be a pioneer in the exciting field of microbiome-based cosmetics. A state-of-the-art research environment with access to cutting-edge technologies. A collaborative and supportive team of scientists and experts. The opportunity to see your research translate into innovative products that impact the lives of millions. A culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and scientific rigor. Qualifications:
MS.c or Ph.D. in Immunology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or a related field with experience working with primary or immortalized cell lines and 5 years of relevant experience. Experience with cell culture techniques, co-culture models and immunological assays such as ELISA, flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, and cell signaling analysis.
Ideally, you also have:
Experience with developing and validating new assays. Experience with setting up and maintaining a cell culture laboratory. Experience with microfluidic devices and microfluidic assay development. You are:
A highly motivated and independent researcher with a passion for scientific discovery. An innovative thinker with the ability to design and execute experiments to test hypotheses. A collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A problem-solver with a "can-do" attitude and an entrepreneurial mindset. Passionate about translating scientific discoveries into real-world applications. Organized and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to data quality and integrity. We are looking for our new Research Scientist to start as soon as possible. This is a permanent position. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We welcome everyone to apply no matter your gender, ethnicity, physical abilities, religion, or sexual orientation.
