Maersk Oil Trading (MOT) acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel for vessels. Maersk is the key customer (80%), and, in 2022, MOT handled almost 11m MT of total fuel purchases. With fuel being amongst the main operating cost of Maersk's vessels operating expenses, MOT focuses on optimizing along various channels, including blending, tolling and barging. We are a mixture of talented and passionate professionals, traders, and industry experts.

Maersk Oil Trading consists of around 100 employees located in a handful of offices around the world - from New York and Singapore to Rotterdam, Geneva and Copenhagen.

We offer

An exciting position based in Copenhagen, Denmark where you will report directly to the Head of Global Operation Process and European Operations.

You will be an integral part of our dynamic Front Office team, handling bunker fuel deliveries to the world’s largest container and shipping fleet and other 3rd parties in Europe and have an important operational role keeping the world’s largest container fleet running efficiently.

Next to that you will liaise with external counterparties such as suppliers /agents and terminal customer service / barge companies / surveyors / authorities.

Key responsibilities

Your main focus will be to work with the operations team and administer the activities required for a smooth and continuous operation of barges / terminals and other assets we operate in ARA. You will be at the center of the action and liaise with internal and external counterparties, building on strong logistics/customer service and administration skills.

Furthermore, some of your key tasks will be;

  • Delivery planning, manage supply and demand and timely schedule loads- and deliveries from suppliers / terminals, as well as assist in the preparation of blending
  • Manage operational functions of barge operations for oil products, including barge vetting and planning amongst others
  • Liaising with and building relationships with barge personnel and other service providers.
  • Close communications with traders on planning for movements of the product
  • Administering Quality/quantity/loss control processes
  • Monitoring and improving/optimizing the performance of the barge operations as well as the installed mass flow meter system onboard
  • Contributing to actively improving our operations in close cooperation with the trading team
  • Managing inventory/control stock movements
  • Optimisation of supply chain related OPEX costs
  • Liaison with internal Credit, Compliance, Finance & Backoffice teams

We are looking for

An energetic and pro-active self-starter with good attention to detail who is familiar with operating in a fast paced, multicultural environment. Ideally you have experience in areas of Oil & Gas operations, bunker barge operations/shipping/the marine industry and servicing customers in a BTB environment

You have an academic education in commerce/administration/shipping & logistics or equivalent industry experience.

You are an Individual who is motivated to always look for ways to improve and deliver better results with an analytical mindset and a 24/7 mentality.

You are fluent in both written and spoken English and have good interpersonal skills and experience from a related role is required.
