Department of Chemistry at Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Special Consultant as Facility Manager for Center for High Entropy Alloy Catalysis (CHEAC) with effect from August 1, 2026 or shortly thereafter.

About us

The Department of Chemistry is an internationally leading research and teaching environment for chemistry. The Department of Chemistry conducts top research within a wide range of chemical disciplines. We work within themes such as the green transition, medicine, material development and quantum chemistry. In addition, the department trains excellent graduates in chemistry who are employed in Danish and foreign companies. The department also contributes high-quality chemistry teaching to a number of bio and natural science programs at the University of Copenhagen. The Department of Chemistry has approx. 200 employees. Center for High Entropy Alloy Catalysis is a Center of Excellence financed by the Danish National Research Foundation. The center is part of Department of Chemistry and headed by Center leader prof. Jan Rossmeisl.
We are app. 50 persons employed in or associated with the center; ranging from BSc-students to professors with several nationalities represented.

CHEAC is located at Universitetsparken 5, Copenhagen and is the work place for the position.

Tasks

You will be a central part of a multi-disciplinary center and the three linked laboratories. Your main task will be to oversee the daily activities in the labs, and involves sample preparation, analysis, training of students and employees in the center, and equipment maintenance.

  • General management of the electrochemistry, synthesis and materials chemistry labs at CHEAC.
  • Laboratory safety, keeping overview of storage of chemicals, samples and gases.
  • Development of new setups for synthesis, synchrotron measurements and electrochemical experiments in collaboration with research staff and students.
  • Maintenance of equipment including contact to technicians and vendors (x-ray diffractometer, GC-MS, in-situ IR, potentiostas, and ICP-OES).
  • Sample preparation and analysis; Training of new users on the equipment.
  • Data management and data curation.

We expect

  • You have a MSc/PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Nanoscience or similar
  • You have hands-on experience with (some of) the above-mentioned methods of analysis and electrochemistry
  • You have technical and analytical skills
  • You can communicate in English both writing and orally
  • You can work both independently and as part of a team
  • You can take initiative and provide good support
  • You are comfortable in a busy everyday life with many different actors, deadlines and tasks, including ad hoc tasks
  • You see yourself as a link between different organizational levels and units.

Terms of salary and employment

The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Employment will be as Special Consultant. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.

The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is in the process of implementing a new joint administrative organization and new workflows, which will bring changes in the coming years. You can also read more here.
