The World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) is looking for a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to support us in the establishment of the Diabetes Investment Accelerator (DIA) and in driving specific innovative financing projects in LMICs. As a Project Manager you will support the establishment of the DIA, contribute to the design and set up of new and planned innovative and blended financing projects in a selected number of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and further support in the monitoring of projects to be rolled out under this new initiative. The position involves working closely with local teams and partners, global and local experts and consultants and colleagues at WDF to co-develop specific investment cases. Furthermore, the role entails ensuring effective delivery and programmatic excellence in the delivery of the projects financed through the DIA. Your specific responsibilities will include: Contribute to setting up the DIA including legal and contractual set up, contract templates, framework agreements, and terms for investors, outcome funders, and external evaluators Contribute to the conceptualization and preparation of innovative financing proposals for impact investors and other funders Track and monitor project progress based on partnership contracts, implementation plans, and progress reports Provide technical support to project partners to ensure timely implementation of project activities and quality monitoring Ensure compliance with agreements, regulations, and requirements attached to our work, including funder/investor compliance requirements and WDF code of conduct Keep up to date with policy developments and trends in innovative finance and represent DIA in external meetings and innovative financing forums, as well as coordinate visits to innovative finance project sites by colleagues, funders, and other stakeholders Furthermore, it is excepted from you to collaborate and communicate with other WDF departments to ensure the DIA and projects are well understood and information is available for program development, fundraising, and communication needs. Qualifications To thrive in this role, you hold a university degree in finance, economics, business, international relations, or other relevant degree, and have 5-7 years of working experience, preferably in innovative finance, including significant experience of working with partners / consortia, and ideally experience in development impact bond. Furthermore, we expect that you have knowledge and experience in: Project management and project management tools and systems Communication, report writing and compliance and risk management; experience related to outcome funders and impact investors is a plus Global health or social sector development programming, especially working/field experience in one or more LMIC countries is a plus Management and proposal development in innovative or blended financing; including experience in (or understanding of) effective management of risk related to innovative finance Fluency in English (written and oral) is required, fluency in French and/or Spanish or other language skills is a plus On a personal level, you are a team player, creative thinker, solution-oriented person, and have analytical mindset, structured manner, high degree of flexibility and cultural adaptability, remote communication proficiency, and strong relationship building skills. Furthermore, we expect you to have an understanding of effective and value-based partnership work and be able to develop and maintain working relationships within disperse and dynamic teams. About the department The World Diabetes Foundation is a leading funder of diabetes prevention and care projects in LMICs. We work through local implementing partners, and we are currently exploring the potential for deploying innovative financing mechanisms such as outcomes-based financing models in diabetes prevention and care in LMIC contexts. Increased investment in prevention and access to care for diabetes and related Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) is urgently needed and we believe that outcome-based models such as social impact bonds carry a great potential both for investors, corporates and philanthropies. Through WDF’s Diabetes Investment Accelerator initiative (DIA), we are investigating whether such models could be a way to scale up efforts and unlock new types of funding and partnering with various types of stakeholders.
