Maersk is going through times of unprecedented change and is growing its capability to provide enhanced Cyber Security solutions to support the organization’s Digital Transformation.

We are looking for a Senior Scrum Master who is passionate about working in an ever-changing environment and can influence changes in ways of working. You’ll champion the agile and scrum process and teach, coach and mentor the team on how to use scrum and agile methods to improve value for business outcome.

Strong communication, relationship and stakeholder management skill are key, as well as being able to resolve team conflicts. You’ll coach the team, organization, and stakeholders to be effective in scrum events and resolve impediments, while helping the team and peers to stay motivated to deliver. We are looking for a Scrum master who has a good knowledge of agile adoption and practices.

As a Senior Scrum Master within Cyber Security at Maersk you’ll be exposed to a wide and challenging range of business issues, communicate across geographical and cultural borders and build a strong professional network. You’ll broaden your knowledge and strengthen your technical and professional foundation as part of our growing community of Scrum Masters from across many parts of the organization and the globe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as the "servant leader" of a scrum team by identifying and removing any potential impediments that may hamper the delivery of the agreed sprint outcomes, manage any emerging dependencies, and help the team remain successful and on schedule.
  • Work with the product owners to understand and break down the business strategy, process, objectives, and technology to prioritize the backlog against business value, and ensure work is aligned with objectives and help the team deliver
  • Shield the scrum teams from outside distractions and unintended dependencies or interference
  • Driving agility and quality to ensure the team delivers the right quality product. Assisting the teams in constantly improving the quality of their deliverables, to understand and normalize estimates and meeting the Definition of Done.
  • Teach and mentor the scrum teams, team members and the wider organization on Agile Principles, Values and Scrum practices to ensure that they become more self-organizing and enable them to have effective Scrum events.
  • Collaboration with other scrum masters, developers, architects, designers, UX experts, external agencies, partners, and key people in the business. Helping to drive engagement with stakeholders.
  • Actively participating in the Scrum Master/Agile community, sharing and re-applying skills.
  • Actively facilitate sessions between stakeholders to promote collaboration, build a shared roadmap and help the teams overcome any delivery roadblocks
  • Use Agile tools to provide transparency and communicate on the team's activity/progress using shared reports, tracking, and reporting of backlog progress including clear identification of associated risks, dependencies, or any issues
  • Supporting the recruitment of team members across the department. Identifying training needs and providing coaching/mentoring.

We are looking for someone who can be a champion of Agile principles and values, and has a thorough understanding of different scaling models and can apply appropriate practices when required.

You will be someone who can lead by example, encourage and engage with teams to achieve goals and see them grow into a high performing team who are keen to learn and evolve.

Working in a multi-location team, you will successfully build and develop productive working relationships and a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved effectively. You are a natural facilitator and coach, both from an individual and team perspective.

You will bring:

  • Proven knowledge of multiple Agile frameworks, eg. XP, Kanban, Less, SAFe
  • 3-4 years’ Experience of working as a Scrum Master or/and 5 within technical delivery
  • Thorough experience in Big Room (BR) Planning/ Product Increment (PI) Planning
  • Working knowledge of Product Development Tools including Atlassian JIRA, Confluence and virtual whiteboarding collaboration tools eg. MIRO, MURAL
  • A range of skills and tooling knowledge that can be used to support and drive the management of the product backlog and the ability to build a definition of an MVP
  • Experience in JIRA Reporting (Burn-Up Charts / Burndown charts)
  • A friendly and communitive person who has strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills, we are seeing someone who is focused on the scrum values of openness and respect.
  • Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artefacts with the ability to advocate the appropriate agile insight to support improvement.
  • The ability to coach the teams to become self-organised and effective at facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint retrospective, daily stand ups and other agile sessions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated experience engaging and influencing cross functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security principles and the willingness to learn more
  • Scrum Certification eg Certified Scrum Master (PSM) would be highly regarded

You will be able to:

  • Lead the team efforts in relentless improvement. Guiding them to improve and take responsibility for their actions.
  • Teach and coach problem-solving techniques and help the team become better problem-solvers for themselves.
  • Enable the scrum team to be comfortable with experimentation and application of other innovations.
  • Identify and remove any blockers to the delivery of the agreed sprint duration and manage any emerging dependencies throughout the sprint, escalating where necessary
  • Understand the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
  • Translate technical concepts into non-technical terms for a range of different audiences.
  • Motivate and influence teams in complex and challenging environments
