Position as post.doc at the Department of Clinical Immunology, Zealand University Hospital, Zealand Region
We have a vacant position as post.doc from 2023-02-14 or as soon as possible to conduct epidemiological and genetic studies within COVID-19, influenza and RSV. The position is funded by the REACT study: Respiratory host pathogen interaction and the COVIDMENT study.
The position is temporary and runs until 2025-12-31. The position is 37 hours per week.
The position is at Department of Clinical Immunology in Næstved. However, in 2024 we will move the department to Køge. The research is conducted in close collaboration with Institute for Biological Psychiatry, Psychiatric Center Sankt Hans, Center for Protein Research at Copenhagen University, the Depatment of Clinical Immunology, Rigshospitalet, and with Department of Epidemiological Research at Statens Serum Institut (SSI). Data will be accessed at Computerome and Statistics Denmark.
The research projects are funded by EU and Nordforsk with the purpose of determining the epidemiology and genetics involved in emerging infections – especially covid-19, influenza and RSV and the psychiatric and social consequences of the covid-19 pandemic.
The genetic and epidemiological studies are done within the Danish Blood Donor Study (DBDS) and Copenhagen Hospital Biobank (CHB) where we have access to detailed questionnaire data from “EfterCOVID” and DBDS in addition to data on infections from Danish Microbiology Database (MiBa). All data will be available when the position starts.
The post.doc shall conduct epidemiological analyses and apply genetic risk scores to answer the research questions as well as publishing the results. The post.doc is free to decide on and pursue specific research angles within the scope of these studies. The post.doc will collaborate with other researchers from the REACT and COVIDMENT studies and deliver Danish results for combined analyses.

We have the following wishes for the candidate:
You have experience with one of the following:
- Statistical epidemiology
- Genetics and polygenic risk scores
- Handling of complex data and large datasets
- That you have updated skills within programming and statistical analyses in R or similar programs.
Your education and background:
- A Ph.D degree within genetics and/or epidemiology.
- At least one submitted or accepted first authorship in a relevant journal
- Excellent collaborative skills
- A positive and motivating attitude making you an excellent role model
- Diligence and intellectual flexibility as required for an academic position
- An open and positive mind that actively contributes to the infrastructure and the success of the research team
