Lead Software Developer

We are based in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, and Svitzer is a leading Global Towage Operator. We have 430 tugboats around the world and 4,400 colleagues, to deliver sustainable marine solutions making ports and terminals safer, more efficient and climate friendly. More about the Role

As Lead Software Developer in Svitzer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the day-to-day development of a strategic product to deliver its outcome i.e., being reliable, scalable, and effective. You will work in a team of a Product Owner, a Scrum Master, a UX Designer, Full-Stack Developers, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and a Software Engineer. Part of the team is based in Portugal, Poland, some in Poland and your closest colleagues are based in Copenhagen.

You will get an opportunity to lead our setup with regard to software product development and shape this further together with the team. As a hands-on Lead, you will more specifically guide a team of software developers, actively contributing to the product's success. Your expertise in React.JS and C# .NET will be instrumental in designing and developing a high-performance, robust, and scalable solution.

Also, you might be coding yourself, conduct code reviews of components being created, and drive the team towards best development practices. You will oversee the product development, ensuring and managing day-to-day progress as your team tackles their assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and lead the team practices to deliver a high-quality product efficiently, using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines from code commit to production deployment.
  • Establish & enforce coding standards, version control, and release pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Adopt optimal design and software development practices to improve productivity and quality.
  • Maintain product technical documentation, architectural design, flow diagrams, documenting technical implementation approaches, and ensuring product technical wiki are up to date.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance efficiency, minimise technical debt, and keep our product at the forefront of technology.
  • Advising on critical decisions and prioritising stories concerning technical debt or technical enablers for product features and backlog.
  • Participate and contribute to the product sprint planning and prioritisation backlog.

We are looking for

Someone who enjoys working with software product development in the sweet spot between Technology and Business, driven by a vision to create business value and better outcomes via technology. You understand modern technologies and want to enable our company's green agenda and create differentiation through software product development. You take ownership of your area of responsibility and want to contribute to transforming and improving the way we work.

A combination of being able to communicate clearly, a technical background and analytical thinking, makes you good at presenting ideas, doing research to learn modern technologies, inspiring creativity in technical solutions, and communicating the technical aspects of the product.

The ideal candidate can tick of all or some of the below:

  • Must hold a valid Danish residence and work permit (this is a prerequisite).
  • Must be fluent in oral and written English, as this is our corporate language.
  • Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have at least two years of experience as a Lead Software Developer, Engineer OR at least five years of experience as a Software Developer or Engineer.
  • A champion in developing REACT, REACT Frameworks, JS, and C# .NET.
  • Have solid experience working with Azure DevOps (git), CI/CD, and pipelines and understand the use and potential of BICEP.
  • Proficiency in developing on Azure PaaS (Functions, Cosmos DB, App Service, etc.)
  • Experience working with data, specifically Azure CosmosdB.
  • Experience with designing, orchestration, and API implementation.
  • Knowledge of code/scanning tools, for example, Sonar Cloud, is a significant advantage.
  • An agile development- and collaborative mindset, primed to adapt and lead in ever-evolving environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, translating technical details into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Approachable and enjoy working in a distributed team.
