Senior Digital Twin Simulation ML Engineer

Location: Maersk Technology, Hague/Copenhagen

We are currently looking for a Senior Digital Twin Simulation ML Engineer reporting to Engineering Manager to join our GDA APMT and Fleet Team. The work involves creating solutions using simulation & optimisation techniques that add value for our global terminal operations. We work closely with colleagues across APM Terminals and Maersk to find unique ways to solve some of their most challenging issues in the industry.

What you will bring

As a simulation engineer you will work as part of an experienced team developing and maintaining Digital Twin and data science models. To be effective in this role you will need a solid foundation of programming experience in a data centric environment as well as some relevant experience of simulation engineering or data science.

We are looking for a strong academic background (PhD, MSc or MEng) in a STEM subject. You will also have a solid foundation of programming experience in a data centric environment leveraging Python or similar languages to solve problems in a data science, simulation or analytics context.

Keys skills relevant to this role include:

1. Modelling and simulation

  • Conceptual and practical experience of modelling and simulation (discrete event simulations, agent-based modelling, deterministic)
  • Predictive analytical methods: supervised/unsupervised learning, time series forecasting
  • Optimisation

2. Coding

  • Strong programming experience, preferably Python
  • Discrete Event Simulation packages such as Simpy.
  • Data centric packages such as Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn
  • Object Oriented Programming
  • Ability to produce and maintain production ready code
  • Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Version control, for example using Git
  • Implementing and/ or architecting solutions on a cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Visualisation (Tableau, Dash, D3 for example)
  • Definition and tracking development tasks in Jira or similar

3. Other:

  • Interacting with wider APM Terminals and Maersk stakeholders
  • Defining simulation requirements in line with business needs
  • Ability to manage your own time
  • Planning and running requirements gathering workshops and sessions to support simulation development
  • Collaboration and working as part of a team
  • Support development of other members of the team
  • Communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Logical thinking and problem solving
