COWI Global Advisory provides financial and economic analyses as well as policy studies within the sectors of environment, transport, water, energy, climate and urban development. We provide high quality advice to our customers building on the solid technical expertise of our consulting engineer business, which counts more than 8,000 employees worldwide. We are currently looking for a Junior Consultant/ Data Specialist to join our team in Brussels, working mainly on different projects distributed among some of our core market areas: Framework contracts and EU Policy.

IN COWI WE CARE ABOUT YOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

In this position, you will become part of a competent and dedicated team of experienced consultants, project managers and specialists working from Brussels together with colleagues at our office in Denmark. You will experience the pulse and dynamics of the consulting business and gain experience in working with different international clients/ donors throughout the project cycle in the most diversified work environment. You will be engaged in several projects and proposals, where you will work closely with project managers and consultants.

As a Junior Consultant dedicated to data analysis and presentation and working mainly within Framework contracts and EU policy studies for the EU Commission, your tasks involve:

• Desk research
• Focus group interviews and surveys
• Support Project managers in the preparation of offers and implementation of projects
• Data management and analyses (e.g. in Excel)
• Create dynamic presentations of data/ results/ figures/ costs
• Analysis and reporting

As junior consultant an onboarding plan is designed to guide the 1st 6 months of your COWI's experience to ensure that the learning opportunities are exploited allowing you to gain insight into how the consulting business works and to develop in the areas selected as focus areas – depending on your personal profile and competencies. A senior staff member with experience in Power BI will act as your mentor to follow up on this learning plan.

We are looking for a Junior Consultant who combine high professional standards with strong social competences and a keen professional interest in EU policy and data analysis.

To succeed in this position, you should have analytical background, a passion for data processing, and a flair for presenting complex concepts, be adept at using figures, datasets, and reports.

Furthermore:

• Have a Master's degree preferably within economics, finance or similar. Others as law, public administration, or political science are also welcomed.
• At least 1 year experience in consulting.
• Practical experience with data mining, business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI), data processing frameworks, and report writing.
• Working understanding of database management. Experience in working with Excel.
• Able to leverage different technologies, such as SQL, RPA, NLP, APIs, and data visualization platforms is considered an asset.
• A business-savvy approach to data and its uses for consultancy companies.
• Strong analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and a passion for big data.
• Problem-solving mindset and bigger-picture view of information.
• Excellent writing skills in English is a must and at least one other European language at a high level is considered an asset.
• Interest and experience in our key sectors in particular energy, climate and transport are an asset.
