Are you a dedicated Scientist with expertise in cell compatible processes and materials for cryopreservation and formulations? Then apply to this position and come support our product development activities for cell-based therapies. The position As a Formulation Scientist, you will use your expertise in cell compatible biomaterial formulations to investigate the properties of the formulation candidates for our Cell Therapy Drug Products. The position is laboratory driven and includes experiments to investigate material properties and cell analysis as well as data handling, presentations, and project planning together with other scientists and laboratory technicians. These activities will require tight collaboration with other departments within Cell Therapy R&D, such as Cell Delivery, Process Development and Cell Therapy Devices. Your main responsibility includes: · Independently planning and conducting laboratory experiments to evaluate various characteristics, including chemical, mechanical, and flow properties, as well as cell compatibility, across different liquid formulations. · Evaluation of latent heat during freezing and determination of the glass transition temperature which is a key element for understanding the behaviour of the formulations for cryopreservation. · Running functional characterisation studies using different analytical techniques for screening and optimization of different biomaterials and perform data collection, analysis and interpretation. Qualifications You must hold a PhD degree in biotechnology, polymer chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a similar field of studies or a master’s degree with 5+ years of experience. Ideally you have gathered initial experience in the pharmaceutical industry. To be successful in this position you will ideally have experience with 3 or more of the following: · Hands-on experience in working with low to medium viscosity liquids · Knowledge of cell-biomaterial interactions · Have experience with a wide range of analytical methods for characterization of polymer formulations. · Knowledge and hands on experience within cryopreservation of mammalian cells including filling processes, controlled rate-freezing, and controlled-rate thawing is preferred. · Knowledge in scale up and the effect of different containers on the cryopreservation process will be ideal. · Experience with the evaluation/development of cryo-formulations knowledge within apoptosis and other relevant analysis methods will be a benefit. · A good understanding of biological systems with hands on experience in cell culture work is preferred. This position requires you to be a dedicated and result-oriented team player who enjoys working in an innovative, international, and open-minded environment. You can easily collaborate cross-departmentally, have a sound scientific judgment, and are used to clearly present scientific data. About the department The department Cell Therapy Analytics and Formulation is a part of Novo Nordisk’s Cell Therapy R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases.You will join an international and dedicated Cell Therapy CMC division of 80+ employees, including scientists, project leaders, laboratory technicians and student workers.
