We are seeking a talented Senior Scientist to be part of our Diabetes Pharmacology department and participate in changing the quality of life for millions of people with cardiometabolic diseases. The position You will be a disease expert within diabetes with a strong background in physiology, metabolism, and drug discovery. The role will require leadership and participation in drug discovery project teams, cross-functional planning of complex pharmacology studies, and other project team activities related to new targets and diabetes in general. Mentoring and supervision of technical/junior staff is an integral part of the job. You will join a global team of highly skilled professionals and you will also interact with CROs and academic collaborators for project progress and new scientific insights. In addition, you will: Lead scientific excellence in diabetes, metabolism and/or islet physiology to actively engage in target discovery, innovation, and project progression. Design and conduct key experiments to validate human relevance and explore pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and mode of action, both internally and externally always applying the highest scientific standards and assessing available translational tools. Develop and implement new models, methods, and technologies for in vivo/ex vivo testing of biological activity of new targets. Be responsible for writing protocols, data analysis, interpretation, record keeping, reporting, and communication of results. Communicate complex multidisciplinary topics to colleagues within Integrated Physiology Research, Diabetes Biology, project teams, Global Drug Discovery Leadership as well as relevant governance bodies. Collaborate with internal stakeholders within a matrix environment as well as external scientific advisors and academic centres of expertise. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. within the cardiometabolic field and have significant post-graduate experience, preferably 3- 5 years in pharma R&D. To be successful in this role you: Are highly skilled in establishing, optimizing, validating, and running diabetes studies in rodents and experience with translational aspects of the model(s) applied. Have strong scientific background and a proven scientific track-record within the diabetes field, and preferably within islet biology. Enjoy working in cross-disciplinary teams and independently on multiple programs in a fast-paced environment. Have ideally knowledge of applying in vivo datasets into in silico models. Have preferably experience with delivery of high-quality drug discovery candidates into clinical development. Have ideally a solid scientific network, as well as international experience. Experience with advanced data analysis is a plus. On a personal level, you are open-minded and a pro-active team player who can easily navigate in a matrix organisation. You have problem-solving and strong execution skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. About the Department Diabetes Pharmacology is part of Integrated Physiology Research within Global Drug Discovery in Novo Nordisk, which specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of cardiometabolic and rare diseases. Integrated Physiology Research is a global function consisting of six departments (located in Måløv, Denmark and Boston, US) with in vivo pharmacology and microphysiological systems at our core. The Diabetes Pharmacology department is based in Måløv, Denmark. The research site is a vibrant, inclusive workplace hosting scientist, post-docs, PhD students, research assistants and technicians and has an international work environment. The department delivers high quality rodent in vivo data with a translational focus within diabetes and is driving ideation based on scientific excellence within diabetes physiology. We collaborate closely with our colleagues within Integrated Physiology Research, in vitro biology, Global Research Technology, Global Translation and beyond to drive projects forward and translate our findings into novel, effective treatments for diabetes.
