Would you like to pioneer new laboratory automation platforms and robots to help generate the biologics of the future? Then join the team in the Department of Automation and Process Optimization! The Position You will be responsible for analysing business processes across Research & Early Development (R&ED) to determine suitability for automation to generate datasets for generative AI. Moreover, you will be aiding scientists across R&ED to get the most from the advanced liquid handling automation that we have on site and for helping them develop and apply these devices to generate the maximum value. Some of your key responsibilities: Visit all labs on a regular basis to help scientists and technicians optimize their processes or improve them to make them more automation friendly. Hands-on practical implementation and optimising of automation solutions. Converting existing manual processes to automation friendly ones. Advice on purchases and preparation of process descriptions and other documentation required. Help deliver the integration of the hardware with the databases etc to ensure FAIR goals. The role may involve visiting our global sites. This is a very people facing role, so a positive outgoing nature is important. Qualifications You are an expert with general laboratory procedures and experimentation. You are an expert, with multiple years hand-on, on Biomek and Tecan liquid handling platforms in all aspects of their use and software, including scripting and GUIs. Experience with other liquid handlers is desired but not required. You are familiar with other liquid handling platforms and integrated systems (and scheduling software such as green button go, momentum, genera etc) You are familiar with and programming languages such as python, C# etc. You are experienced in sourcing, vendor selection, project management and implementation of automation solutions. You have a PhD-degree in chemistry, biology, biomedical research or similar and at least 10 years of experience. About the department You will be working in an area called Digital Science & Innovation which is supporting the digital journey across all our global therapy areas in R&ED. We work in multidisciplinary teams, have strong collaboration with all areas across R&ED to leverage scientific knowledge, and partner with our IT organisation, to ensure access to the most advanced technology platforms and tools. We participate in drug development projects across the value chain, from early discovery to pre-clinical development. We engage on external collaborations to ensure access to the latest research and technology enablers, we automate our labs and processes, and we focus on developing and retaining top talent.
