Are you an experienced leader of leaders within R&D in the health science industry? Or do you have a strong history within biostatistics and are you ready to take up a global senior leadership role? Then you might be our new Vice President in Biostatistics Rare Diseases & Advanced Therapies and head up a global team of highly engaged leaders and specialists. Your location can be anywhere, but preferred time zone is either Europe or East Coast of US.About the department
The global Biostatistics function is part of Data Science in our global clinical development organisation (Development). We are a strategic partner in leading product development worldwide across all therapy areas from early development phases to product introduction and life cycle management. Our primary responsibility is to ensure statistical data and documentation for clinical submissions to authorities while securing that the process lives up to uniform global standards, regulations, and business ethics. With that said Novo Nordisk is also in an exciting phase entering new therapeutic areas with multiple options and a need for change. Hence, we expect that the VP has the ambition to embrace the uncomfortable unknown and the ability to reflect on what kind of leadership is required.We have an international and diverse environment where you will be able to use your cross-cultural awareness and leadership skills, having Biostatistics colleagues in India, USA, China, Japan, and Denmark as well as our outsourcing partners in India and Europe.The position
As one of four Vice Presidents heading up our Biostatistics areas you will report to the Corporate Vice President of Biostatistics and be part of the global Biostatistics leadership team driving the overall strategic direction and contributing to innovation. In total we are an expanding organisation, currently with approximately 400 statisticians and statistical programmers globally. You will focus on our Rare Diseases & Advanced Therapies area, and you will head up a team based in US, India and two locations in Denmark and your location can be remote but preferably in European or US East Coast time zone and you will have some travelling to primarily the headquarters in Copenhagen. You will head up a leadership team of 5 leaders who ensure that more than 90 people contribute, grow, and enjoy being part of one of the biggest biostatistics units.Your overall responsibility is to drive and operate the Biostatistics area ensuring that business targets and budget are met according to both long-term and short-term business strategies. This includes among other things being accountable for ensuring that statistical input to the design of clinical trials, statistical programming, and analyses of all clinical data being used for obtaining regulatory approval of new drugs and labelling expansions across the portfolio is in line with the overall Novo Nordisk project and portfolio prioritisation.In addition, you are responsible for leading the VP area according to the strong and unique company values combining humanity, ambition, and quality known as the Novo Nordisk Way. You are responsible for quality compliance of Biostatistics’ activities, and you represent Biostatistics, Data Science and Development internally and externally as relevant.Qualifications
You are an experienced leader of leaders within related areas (Data Science, Bioinformatics or the like) from an international life-science organisation. Alternatively, you bring line management experience from within a biostatistics organisation and are ready to take up a senior leadership position.Creating business results with impact comes natural to you based on your solid business and R&D value chain understanding and your profound understanding of the regulatory and post-marketing drug development process working under quality requirements such as GxP. You have experience from working in international and diverse professional groups as well as with global implementation of new technologies and processes across functional areas. Your external network is strong - both within academia, the health care industry, and commercial partners.As a person you have excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, combined with an ability to make decisions, and set direction while leading by example and empowering your leaders to build effective teams and promoting cross organisational collaboration. You function as a role model by being accountable, ambitious, responsible, engaged with stakeholders, open and honest and ready for change. Strong analytical skills and fluency in English are mandatory.Deadline
