About the department The Omics Technologies department is part of the Translational Research area within Global Translation, which is responsible for identifying clinically relevant biomarkers and generating high-quality biomarker data to guide decision-making in research and early development. You will join a team of dedicated scientists and laboratory technicians who apply untargeted and targeted approaches to drive biomarker discovery, qualification, and quantification across all therapeutic areas within Novo Nordisk’s Research and Early Development value chain. The position In this position, you will be responsible for executing biomarker plans from relevant projects by developing advanced and robust LC-MS workflows for proteomic analyses of cells and biological samples from diverse biological matrices, including plasma and tissue. To succeed in this position, you will require hands-on experience working with the proteomics workflow, namely sample preparation, operating and troubleshooting LC and high-resolution MS instrumentations and proteomics data processing. The working environment in Global Translation is dynamic and innovative and involves interactions with colleagues from research sites in the US and China, with an excellent opportunity to establish a strong scientific network. Your main responsibilities will include: Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting nano LC-MS instrumentations (Q-Exactive instruments) Developing and applying all aspects of bottom-up proteomics workflows including experimental design, sample analysis, data analysis, and submit data for presentations, reports, and publications with accuracy Developing and leading the development and optimisation of new proteomic technologies and data analysis platforms Leading collaborations and communicate effectively with experts from a variety of technical backgrounds. Collaborating closely with department scientists, laboratory technicians and project teams. Qualifications You hold a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related disciplines or you hold a master’s degree in the abovementioned disciplines with a number of years of practical experience from an industry or academic setting working with LC-MS-based proteomics. To be successful in this position you have: Strong experience and keen interest in working hands-on in a laboratory setting on a daily basis Experience with proteomics workflow including sample preparatory methods, operating LC-MS instrumentations and analytical software Good organisational skills, and the ability to develop innovative solutions to new challenges Strong commitment to high-quality analysis and data handling Ability to gain recognition amongst stakeholders with enthusiasm, proactiveness, integrity, and communication skills It is considered an advantage if you have experience working with plasma proteomics, automation technologies, targeted approaches and LC-MS based quantification, metabolomics, biomarker discovery in a pharmaceutical setting As a person, you are team player, ambitious, focused on results and thrive in a dynamic research environment. It is pivotal for your success in the position to demonstrate a flair for and interest in novel experimental methods and technologies and to have a flexible mindset. You have strong interpersonal networking capabilities and can communicate complex scientific procedures with technical proficiency both orally and in writing.
